Kunle Afolayan‘s film “Ijogbon” has quickly climbed Netflix’s global non-English film chart, reaching the 8th spot in just two days after its release.
Between October 13 and 15, 2023, this adventurous movie garnered 4.2 million hours of viewing from 2.2 million views. It stands out as the only Nigerian film in this category.
“Ijogbon” is currently the top Netflix film in Nigeria, and it has also made its way into the top 10 charts of nine other countries, including the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and Kenya.
The film, written by Tunde Babalola, revolves around the lives of four teenagers from a rural village in South-West Nigeria.
When they stumble upon a pouch of diamonds, chaos ensues as the owners of the diamonds return in search of their treasure. The teenagers must band together to save one of their friends.
The movie boasts a talented cast, including Gabriel Afolayan, Adunni Ade, Manuel Bimbo, Yemi Solade, Sam Dede, Gregory Ojefua, Saeed Mallam, Femi Branch, Femi Adebayo, and Dorathy Bachor.
On another note, “The Black Book“ had an impressive three-week run on Netflix’s global English film chart, starting from the third spot in the chart in its second week of release to the 10th spot in its third week.
