Does Garlic Really Increase Your Sex Drive?

Published

See How Garlic Can Increase Your Sex Drive | Fab.ng

Garlic adds a lot more than just zing to your food. For centuries, it’s also been considered a natural aphrodisiac, but is there any truth to this? Can a bit of garlic powder really set the mood? Can garlic really increase sex drive?

Well, believe it or not, garlic’s reputation as a love potion goes way back. Ancient Egyptians used it in fertility rituals, and Roman gladiators thought it gave them extra strength and stamina.

In many cultures around the world, garlic has been associated with virility and passion.

So, can garlic really live up to its reputation as a sex drive booster? The science isn’t totally clear yet, but some studies suggest it might offer indirect benefits for both men and women.

For Men

  • Better Blood Flow: Garlic contains a compound called allicin that seems to improve circulation. Since good blood flow is important for erections, this could potentially lead to a perkier sex life for men. Caution: If you take medications for erectile dysfunction, talk to your doctor before upping your garlic intake, as it might interact with some meds.
  • Sperm Boost: Some studies suggest garlic might improve sperm health by increasing both sperm production and motility (how well they move).

For Women

  • Enhanced Arousal: Similar to the benefits for men, garlic’s potential to improve circulation might also benefit women by increasing arousal and overall sexual satisfaction.
  • Stress Relief: Garlic might have some mild stress-reducing properties. Since chronic stress can be a libido-killer for both sexes, anything that helps manage stress could indirectly contribute to a better sex life.

It’s important to remember that garlic’s effects can vary depending on individual factors like overall health, diet, and any existing medical conditions.

Beyond its potential bedroom benefits, garlic boasts a whole range of health advantages:

  • Fights Off Germs: Garlic has natural antimicrobial and immune-boosting properties, which can help your body fight off infections.
  • Heart Health Hero: Studies suggest garlic may help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, keeping your heart happy and healthy.
  • Antioxidant Powerhouse: Garlic packs antioxidants that fight cell damage and may reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
  • Taming Inflammation: Garlic might also have anti-inflammatory properties that can benefit various conditions, like arthritis.

Adding this flavorful friend to your diet is easy. Here are some ideas:

  • Classic Chopped Garlic: Simply mince or crush cloves and add them to your favourite stir-fries, stews, or soups for an extra kick.
  • Roasted Garlic Spread: Roasting garlic mellows its flavour and creates a delicious spread. Just roast whole garlic bulbs in the oven until soft and spreadable.
  • Supplements: Garlic supplements are available, but always talk to your doctor before taking any supplements to ensure they’re safe for you.

Remember, a healthy, balanced diet that includes garlic alongside other nutritious foods is the best way to support your overall well-being and potentially improve your sexual health.

While a clove of garlic might not be a magic love potion, open communication, emotional intimacy, and a healthy lifestyle are more powerful aphrodisiacs in the long run. But hey, if you enjoy the taste and health benefits of garlic, feel free to embrace it in both the kitchen and, well, maybe the bedroom too!

5 Nigerian Proverbs That Will Make You Think

Proverbs | Fab.ng

Ever wonder how to hold your own in conversations, especially in situations where respect and authority matter? Nigerian proverbs can be powerful tools for getting your point across in cultures that value tradition and wisdom.

Proverbs are short, memorable sayings that condense years of experience and knowledge into a single, impactful phrase. By using Nigerian proverbs skillfully, you can add weight to your words, command attention, and show your understanding of the situation.

1. Being short does not make a man a boy.

In Nigerian culture, traditionally, the man is seen as the head of the household. This doesn’t necessarily mean it has to do with physical stature. Respect is earned through one’s actions, character, and decisions, not physical appearance.

2. An ugly-looking goat must have a buyer at the market.

This Nigerian proverb carries a powerful message that tells us that:

  • Everyone has worth. No matter how difficult someone’s situation may seem or what challenges they face, they still have value as a person.
  • Even if someone feels limited by disability or disadvantage, they can still have a positive impact on the world in their own unique way.
  • Everyone has something special to contribute, whether it’s their talents, skills, experiences, or simply their kindness.

This proverb reminds us to celebrate the potential within everyone and to never underestimate the positive impact we can all have on the world.

3. The same sun that melts wax is also capable of hardening clay.

This proverb can mean two things:

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end. This reminds us that even a bad situation or a failure can be a powerful motivator. The disappointment or frustration can push us to work harder and achieve even greater success in the future.

The proverb also suggests that what seems like a negative outcome for one person might actually have a positive twist for someone else. Life can be full of unexpected turns, and sometimes what appears to be a setback can lead to a new opportunity down the road.

4. Hot anger is not capable of cooking yam.

This means getting angry is a natural human emotion, but holding onto that anger can actually hurt you in the long run. This saying reminds us that letting go of anger is the best thing for our well-being.

Instead of fuming, take a deep breath and try to calm down. Once you’re feeling more centred, you can start to forgive the person or situation that made you upset.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting what happened, but it allows you to move on from the negative emotions and avoid letting anger control you.

5. If you sleep with an itching anus, you will wake up with smelling hands.

This proverb suggests that things we try to keep hidden eventually come to light. It’s a reminder that honesty and transparency are important in the long run.

There’s a popular saying in Nigeria that captures this idea well: “Every day is for the thief, but one day is for the owner.” This means that even if someone gets away with something wrong for a while, eventually the truth will come out.

Kunu drink: How to make the traditional Nigerian beverage | fab.ng

Kunu drink, also known as kunun zaki, is a popular traditional Nigerian beverage made from grains such as millet, sorghum, or maize. This refreshing and nutritious drink is often enjoyed for its slightly tangy flavour and health benefits.

Kunu is particularly cherished in Northern Nigeria, where it is commonly served during special occasions and as a thirst quencher on hot days. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to make kunu drink at home.

Ingredients for making Kunu drink

How to make Kunu drink

Step 1: Soak the grains

1. Clean the grains: Start by cleaning the millet thoroughly. Remove any stones, dirt, or impurities.
2. Soak the grains: Place the cleaned millet in a large bowl and cover with water. Let it soak for at least 8 hours or overnight. This helps to soften the grains and makes blending easier.

Step 2: Blend the mixture

1. Prepare the spices: While the grains are soaking, you can prepare the spices. Peel and chop the sweet potato or ginger into small pieces.
2. Blend the grains and spices: Drain the soaked millet and transfer it to a blender. Add the chopped sweet potato or ginger, cloves, black peppercorns, and dry chilli pepper if using. Add enough water to cover the ingredients and blend until you get a smooth paste.

Step 3: Strain the mixture

1. Strain the paste: Pour the blended mixture into a large bowl lined with a fine sieve or cheesecloth. Strain the mixture, squeezing out as much liquid as possible. This liquid is the kunu extract.
2. Repeat if necessary: If the mixture is too thick to strain, you can add a little more water and blend again before straining.

Step 4: Cook the Kunu

1. Heat the Kunu extract: Pour the strained Kunu extract into a large pot. Add more water if necessary to achieve your desired consistency. Kunu should be thick but drinkable.
2. Cook the mixture: Heat the pot over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Cook the mixture for about 10–15 minutes until it thickens slightly and becomes smooth.
3. Cool the Kunu: Remove the pot from the heat and allow the kunu to cool completely.

Step 5: Sweeten and serve

1. Sweeten the Kunu: Once the kunu has cooled, add sugar or honey to taste. Stir well to ensure the sweetener is fully dissolved.
2. Chill the drink: Transfer the kunu to a refrigerator and chill for at least an hour before serving. Kunu is best enjoyed cold.

Tips for making Kunu drink

  • Experiment with flavours: You can customise your Kunu drink by adding different spices or flavours, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, or vanilla.
  • Adjust the consistency: If you prefer a thicker or thinner drink, adjust the amount of water used during blending and cooking.
  • Storage: Kunu drink can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Stir well before serving, as it may settle over time.

Health Benefits of Kunu drink

Kunu is not only delicious but also nutritious. It is rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, making it a healthy addition to your diet. The spices used in Kunu, such as cloves and ginger, also offer various health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and digestive properties.

In conclusion, making Kunu drink at home is a simple process that involves soaking, blending, straining, and cooking grains with spices. This traditional Nigerian drink is a delightful way to enjoy the flavours and health benefits of millet, sorghum, or maize.

Whether you’re new to Kunu or a long-time fan, this guide will help you create a refreshing beverage that everyone can enjoy.
