Nigerian singer, Johnny Drille, revealed that he had never been in a romantic relationship until he met his wife, Rima Tahini, during an interview on the “Gold Room with Iyabo Ojo” show.
Johnny Drille shared that he first saw Tahini in 2018 at one of his shows after being signed to Mavin Records, where she also worked. Despite initially thinking she was white due to her mixed-race heritage, they got talking at a later date, and he knew she was the one for him.
According to him,
“The first time I saw her was at one of my shows in 2018. She was sitting in the front row next to a white woman. At some point, I thought both of them were white. She is mixed race.”
Drille stressed that after they got to talking after meeting again, he knew right there and then that she was the one for him. It was at that point that he said that he had never had a girlfriend before meeting her, and he was 28 years old at the time.

He further said,
“So, when I was working on another show in Abuja, we got talking. We met in October, and by January, I knew I was going to marry her. And I told her I was going to marry her. For me, it was a deep conviction. A lot of people will not believe this, but she was my first girlfriend. I never had a girlfriend before her. I married the first woman that I said ‘I love you’ to, and I always wanted it to be that way; it doesn’t have to be that way for everyone.”
However, when asked whether he was a virgin when he met his wife, the singer chuckled and playfully sidestepped the question. Despite never having had a girlfriend, he adeptly maintained privacy about his personal life.
Notably, Johnny Drille kept his relationship concealed from the public eye throughout its duration, extending this discretion to their wedding day. Adding to the surprise, the couple clandestinely tied the knot in 2022, revealing this only in July 2023 during their first-anniversary celebration.
This revelation caught many Nigerians off guard, as the news of his relationship and the subsequent marriage had been well-guarded for an entire year. While details about their relationship were scarce, fans now have insights into when and how they first crossed paths.
