4 Fashion Rules to Get You Through the Holiday Season

Published

on

This is when the countdown starts ticking for the holiday madness to begin. Soon our calendars will be packed with Christmas dinners, holiday cocktail parties and more festive get-togethers, and the challenge of trying to find something to wear to all these events will undoubtedly drain you.

To make things a bit easier this year, we’ve put together rules for holiday dressing to make outfit planning far less stressful.

Lean Into the Spirit of the Season

Consider adding some pops of silver or red to jazz things up for the holidays. On the flip side, this is the one time of year you get to pull out those Christmas sweaters, so if you want to go big with all the FAB clothing you own, we say do it.

It Is Glam Time

Velvet and sequins and feathers, oh my! If ever there was a time to go all in on sparkle and shine, it’s now. For a nighttime event, just swap in some heels or more tulle, or other embellished pieces and you’ll be looking fabulous and feeling festive.

Comfort Is Important

A lot of the holiday season centers around eating, so we can pretty much guarantee you will be infinitely happier if you choose clothing that is comfortable both before and after a big meal. If the waistband is pinching before you’ve even left the house, consider changing into something else. That way you can focus on catching up with your loved ones and not get distracted by your outfit.

When In Doubt Wear Black

It doesn’t matter whether you prefer a little black dress, a coordinating suit or a cozy sweater and some Audrey Hepburn-inspired cropped trousers, wearing head-to-toe black is a surefire way to look chic and elegant. And, as an added bonus, it serves as the perfect base to play around with kooky accessories like shoulder-grazing statement earrings, rainbow beaded handbags or feather-adorned heels. Of course, you also can’t go wrong with some pearl studs and a simple wristwatch either—it’s totally up to you.

Nigerians Who Attended The 2024 Met Gala | Fab.ng

Are you aware of the Nigerians who attended the big Met Gala event this year (2024)? The Met Gala is a fancy party once a year where celebrities dress up in amazing costumes. They do it to raise money for a famous art museum in New York City called the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year, the party had a special theme: “Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time.” That theme is based on a story written in 1962 by J.G. Ballard. The story is about how rich and powerful people can’t avoid death, no matter how much money they have or how beautiful they are.

Top 5 Most Expensive Shoes In The World

Top 5 Most Expensive Shoes In The World | Fab.ng

In the past, people wore shoes only to protect their feet. Today, however, shoes can be very expensive and fashionable. Some famous designers make shoes from expensive fancy materials, like silk or even jewels! These shoes can cost millions of dollars.

Other expensive shoes might not be made from the most luxurious materials, but they are still very costly because they’re a popular brand or have a unique design.

Here are the top five most expensive shoes in the world:

An Italian designer named Antonio Vietri created a very special pair of shoes called the Moonstar Shoes. These shoes are incredibly expensive, costing a whopping $20 million! Imagine that!

They are high heels made entirely of solid gold, not just any regular heels, though. They also sparkle with 30 beautiful diamonds and have a small piece of a real meteorite from way back in 1576.

The shoes were first shown off at a fancy fashion event in Dubai called MIDE Fashion Week. Believe it or not, they were even delivered by helicopters.

Jada Dubai, a designer known for luxurious shoes, teamed up with Passion Jewellers to create something truly amazing: the Passion Diamond Shoes. These weren’t your everyday shoes.

Made with a combination of shiny gold, soft leather, and elegant silk, they took a whole nine months to craft by hand. But the wait was worth it! Each shoe sparkled with 236 diamonds. One of them even had a giant, super-clear 15-carat diamond near the toes.

Just like something out of a movie, these precious shoes were delivered in style—by helicopters!

Imagine getting a super expensive pair of shoes as a birthday gift. That’s what happened to one lucky person who received a creation by British designer Debbie Wingham. These shoes are actually the world’s third-most expensive pair of footwear.

They were custom-made for this special occasion, using precious stones that the client already owned. It took over 100 hours to carefully craft the shoes by hand.

The design is truly stunning; the base is made of platinum and features a gold plaque. The most eye-catching part is the front, which sparkles with beautiful diamonds. There are three large pink diamonds, each weighing 3 carats, and one blue diamond for contrast. Even the stitching is luxurious—made with threads of 18-carat gold! The finishing touch? The leather parts are painted with 24-carat gold paint, making these shoes shine from every angle.

On December 14, 2008, Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw his shoes at US former President George W. Bush. The shoes were later bought for $10 million, and a massive order of nearly 300,000 pairs of similar shoes was placed in a week.

The shoes were thrown at him, probably because many people blamed him for the war and destruction in Iraq.

To celebrate a special occasion, the famous jewellery company Harry Winston decided to create a special pair of shoes. Dorothy’s ruby slippers from the beloved movie “The Wizard of Oz” inspired the creation.

Instead of using sequins like the movie shoes, Harry Winston’s version sparkled with gemstones! They used a whopping 4,600 rubies, which together weighed 1,350 carats. That’s a lot of rubies! They even added 50 carats of diamonds for extra shine.

It took two whole months to carefully craft these amazing shoes. Because of all the gemstones and the time it took to make them, the shoes cost a staggering $3 million. This makes them the fifth-most expensive pair of shoes in the world.

How To Dress Like A Child Of God And Still Slay

Martha Ankomah Portrays Decent Fashion | Fab.ng

Looking stylish at church doesn’t have to mean sacrificing fashion! Today, we’re drawing inspiration from Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah, known for her amazing fashion sense.

Martha shows us how to strike the perfect balance between trendy and respectful outfits that are perfect for church. Let’s break down how to achieve this “church girl slay” look, inspired by Martha, and turn heads every Sunday the right way.

1. Simple and flattering

According to Martha, looking elegant at church doesn’t require complicated outfits. The key is to choose well-made, simple dresses that flatter your figure without being too revealing. Think A-line dresses or straight cuts with necklines that are appropriate for church.

The most important things are how the dress fits you and the fabric you choose. Opt for high-quality fabrics in solid colours or subtle patterns. These choices will instantly elevate your church look!

2. Accessorise sensibly

The right accessories can really tie your outfit together, and Martha is a master at using them. She always picks pieces that complement her dress without stealing the show.

A nice watch, a pair of small earrings, or a simple necklace can add a touch of class. But remember, keep it simple! Choose one main accessory and let it be the star, and keep the rest more subtle.

3. Harmonise colour & pattern

Looking modest doesn’t mean being boring. Martha shows us how to add personality to our church outfits with colour and patterns. She often incorporates bright colours and beautiful African prints into her dresses and skirts. This adds a fun and energetic touch while still being respectful for the church.

For example, you could try a colourful headwrap or a patterned midi skirt paired with a simple top. This combination can look eye-catching and stylish without being too revealing.

4. The beauty of modesty

Looking your best at church doesn’t mean hiding your style. Martha Ankomah is all about showing you can be fashionable and modest at the same time.

Martha’s secret weapon? Her approach to fashion! She balances faith and style flawlessly, proving you can honour your religion and still look amazing.

So, next Sunday, when you pick out your outfit, remember Martha’s magic touch: modest, high-quality pieces with a dash of your own personality. This formula will not only make you look stunning at church, but you might even inspire others with your style, just like Martha does!
