In Donetsk, the Donbass Arena was abandoned because of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The stadium was the target of a bombing in 2014. Shakhtar had to move to Lviv and Kharkiv. The Old home for Shakhtar is now held by pro-Russian rebels.
Pontiac Silverdome – USA
Stadiums are sometimes abandoned for less serious reasons; that was the case with the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit. It hosted 1994 World Cup then the NFL with Detroit Lions. The stadium was abandoned in 2015 before it was destroyed in 2017.
Lluis Sitjar – Spain
In Spain Palma de Mallorca also abandoned its stadium. Palma left the Lluis Sitjar stadium for a new one. The old stadium is currently deserted. It was in that stadium Barcelona legend Xavi Hernández played his first official game for Barcelona in 1998
Estadio de Sarria – Spain
Espanyol Barcelona also abandoned the Estadio de Sarria because of financial reasons. It was closed then destroyed
