On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, a Federal High Court in Ikoyi under Ibrahim Buba, rescheduled the hearing of the case between Raconteur Productions and Oboli, Dioni Visions and Filmone Distribution.
The hearing was rescheduled to Thursday, March 30, 2017, after Otudor, the lawyer representing the plaintiff, requested for more time (48 hours) to defend an unknown motion filed by the defendant, Augustine Alegeh (SAN).
Alegeh in turn requested that the hearing should take place before Friday, March 31, 2017, which is the scheduled release date of “Okafor’s Law” in Nigeria.
Countering Alegah’s plea, Otudor stated that she and her team would need 48 hours, and should the hearing take place on Friday, the defendant can still release their movie if they win the case.
The Judge however rejected Otudor’s plea for a Friday hearing, stating his capability to hear and deliver a just verdict in the next 24 hours.
Dioni Visions was represented in court by Oluwatomi Adeoye as the production manager of the outfit, Filmone Distribution was represented by their legal Manager, Damola Layonu, while Raconteur Productions was represented by Chioma Onyewe as the director.
