Zuri, Speaks On Dream Collaboration | Fab.ng

Zuri Marley, the granddaughter of renowned Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley, recently attended the Bob Marley: One Love London premiere, where she shared her dream musical collaboration. Zuri Marley recently disclosed her desire for a collaboration with a particular singer alongside her late grandfather.

Speaking at the London premiere of the “Bob Marley: One Love” biopic, Zuri revealed that Burna Boy is the only artist she could imagine working alongside her grandfather.

She expressed that, after careful consideration, she firmly believed that Burna Boy was the sole artist she would have wished to witness collaborating with her grandfather.

Zuri Marley said: “The person who I would want my grandpa [Bob Marley] to collaborate with is Burna Boy. I had to think about it. I went backstage, and I was like, ‘Burna Boy. Africa Unite.”

The much-anticipated biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” pays tribute to the reggae legend through its visuals and music. The film’s soundtrack, “Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired by the Film),” features a diverse array of artists reimagining Marley’s timeless classics. Among them, two Nigerian talents stand out: Wizkid and Bloody Civilian.

Wizkid, a global Afrobeats superstar, lends his smooth vocals to a rendition of “One Love.” His soulful interpretation stays true to the song’s essence of unity and peace while infusing it with his contemporary flair. The result is a powerful and poignant homage that resonates across generations and cultures.

Bloody Civilian, a rising singer-songwriter known for her experimental sound, takes on the enigmatic “Natural Mystic.” Her version is a mesmerising exploration of the song’s spiritual themes. She showcases her unique vocal range and ability to weave intricate sonic textures. It’s a testament to the versatility of Marley’s music and the boundless creativity it inspires.

Their inclusion in the soundtrack marks a significant moment for Nigerian music.

It speaks to the growing global recognition of the country’s vibrant music scene and its ability to connect with audiences worldwide. Moreover, it highlights the enduring power of Bob Marley’s message, which transcends borders and resonates deeply with artists and listeners.

Beyond the soundtrack, their involvement raises interesting questions. How will these interpretations influence younger generations’ discovery of Bob Marley’s music? How will they shape the future of reggae and its global reach? While these questions remain unanswered, the presence of Wizkid and Bloody Civilian on the “Bob Marley: One Love” soundtrack undoubtedly adds a fresh chapter to the reggae legend’s legacy, one infused with the vibrant energy and unique voices of Nigeria’s burgeoning music scene.
