Josh2Funny, whose real name is Chibuike Josh Alfred, is a popular Nigerian comedian. He recently appeared on a podcast called “The Honest Bunch” where he talked about his place in the comedy industry. Josh2Funny made some bold statements about his success and his relationship with other comedians.
During the podcast, Josh2Funny said he believes he’s in a league of his own when it comes to comedy. This means he thinks he’s so good that other comedians can’t really compete with him. He’s very confident about his skills and his position in the industry.
Josh2Funny talked about competition in the Nigerian comedy industry. He said that some people claim there’s no competition among content creators, but he disagrees. He believes these people are just trying to be nice or avoid admitting the truth. According to Josh, there is definitely competition in the industry.
However, Josh2Funny then said that he personally doesn’t have any competition. This might sound confusing, but what he means is that while there is competition in the industry overall, he feels that no one is really at his level. He sees himself as being above the competition.
To support his claim, Josh2Funny talked about how successful his comedy skits are. He said that his skits are so popular that they’re being translated into foreign languages in Europe and Asia. This is a big achievement for any content creator and shows how far his comedy has reached.
Josh2Funny also expressed some frustration with other comedians.
He said that some of his colleagues in the industry have copied his trends and styles. This means they’ve seen something he’s done that was successful and then tried to do the same thing in their own videos. What really bothers Josh is that these comedians didn’t give him credit for coming up with the idea first.
This practice of copying without giving credit is something that happens a lot in creative industries. It can be very frustrating for the original creator who put time and effort into coming up with a new idea or style. Josh2Funny clearly feels strongly about this and wants other comedians to acknowledge when they’re inspired by his work.
Josh2Funny said,
“What I won’t take is for people to be copying what I initiated without crediting me. No, I won’t take that. Let nobody tell you that there’s no competition in the comedy industry. There’s competition… As we speak now, my comedy is interpreted in Mandarin, Hindi, Russian, French, and other languages. I’m not with you guys, bro. I’m not anybody’s mate in this comedy industry.”
By making these statements, Josh2Funny is positioning himself as a lead in the Nigerian comedy scene. He’s saying that not only is he very successful, but he’s also innovative enough that other comedians are looking to him for ideas. At the same time, he’s calling out what he sees as bad behaviour in the industry.
These kinds of statements can be risky. While they show confidence, they might also rub some people the wrong way. Other comedians might feel insulted or challenged by Josh2Funny’s claims. Fans might have different opinions about whether Josh2Funny really is as far above the competition as he says.
Overall, Josh2Funny’s comments give us a glimpse into how he sees himself and his place in the Nigerian comedy industry. He’s proud of his success, confident in his abilities, and not afraid to speak his mind about industry issues.
