AGN Pays Condolence Visit To The Family Of Junior Pope | Fab.ng

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) recently visited the family of the late actor Junior Pope to express their sympathy and offer support in their time of grief. This visit comes a few weeks after the tragic passing of Junior Pope and four other crew members in a boat accident while travelling to a movie set.

AGN President Emeka Rollas shared a video snippet of their visit to the family of Junior Pope. The video shows Emeka and his team offering their condolences and words of comfort to Junior Pope’s loved ones. Recognising the immense pain the family is enduring, Emeka included a heartfelt prayer in his caption. He asked God to grant them the strength to bear this unimaginable loss.

The caption also details who accompanied Emeka on the visit. He was joined by prominent figures from Enugu State. They included the Actors Guild chairman for the Enugu chapter, the commissioner for culture and tourism, and the information commissioner. Their presence signifies a unified front from the film industry and the state in offering their support to Junior Pope’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

Afrobeat music star Davido shut down rumours online that he fired his longtime lawyer, Bobo Ajudua, over missing money.

Davido himself took to his Instagram story on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, to clear the air. He confirmed that he and Ajudua are no longer working together but insisted there was no embezzlement involved. He urged people to ignore the rumours.

He said, “That was not the case at all! We are still very good friends! In business, things evolve and change all the time! Please disregard this narrative!”

Davido’s explanation sparked a flurry of responses from his fans on Instagram. People got talking!

A user commented, “In other words, bobo is not his lawyer anymore, I love how he cleared the air. In their words, they’re just good friends now,” and another fan expressed his approval, saying, “A wise man! Kept his house in order before killjoys push a narrative that isn’t true, thereby ruining what they have left in the relationship.”

“Davido don suffer for una hand una go just Dey carry fake rumours,” said a displeased fan. Another fan commented, “In other words, that’s not his lawyer anymore…”

Before Davido set the record straight, there were rumours swirling online. People were saying he fired his lawyer, Bobo Ajudua, while they were both in Dubai. The reason? Allegedly, Ajudua only gave back $30,000 out of a much larger sum of money, $400,000, that was entrusted to him.

The false report read, in part,

“According to sources, he fired the lawyer in Dubai and told him to go his way…Out of the $400K with Mr Lawyer, he allegedly returned only $30K and alleged that he settled some bills and paid for tickets…..Ticket? PLEASE!”

Singer Portable, known for his past controversies, has finally spoken out after his arrest for refusing to settle a car debt. The arrest stemmed from his purchase of a ₦27 million G-Wagon. He allegedly still owes ₦14 million to the car dealer.

On his Instagram account on May 15, 2024, Portable posted something, but the content of the post remains a mystery. This lack of clarity leaves fans and followers wondering what Portable might be trying to say. Did he apologise for the situation? Tease an upcoming explanation? Or something entirely else? Only time will tell exactly what Portable meant with his cryptic Instagram post.

The post read, “God is bigger than everything. Amen if you believe so.” He said in his caption, “God Over Everything. 🙏”

Portable’s fans flooded his Instagram post with messages of support. They urged him to make a new song and shower him with prayers.

A fan said, “Expect new song from anikuleti, street don jazzy, ika of africa…Welcome back idan sango.” Another comment read, “Bigger u Habeeb” and another fan said, “Big God go do am again You I’ll never go down.”

Portable was arrested on May 14th. This was after a car dealer he bought a G-Wagon from reported him to the police. Apparently, Portable hadn’t paid the full amount for the car, which was ₦27 million, and the dealer’s attempts to contact him hadn’t been successful.

Things got interesting when the police showed up to arrest Portable. Videos circulating on social media captured the dramatic scene. Officers read him the arrest warrant, but in a surprising turn of events, Portable took off! He tried to escape by jumping over a large gate.

Unfortunately for him, his freedom was short-lived. Another video shows the police catching him. They then bundled him into their patrol van, ending his escape attempt.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police spokesperson, confirmed the news of Portable’s arrest on his social media account.

“Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought G-Wagon for ₦27m, paid ₦13m, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is partnering with the Lagos State Government on two exciting projects: a new movie and a reality TV show! On May 9, 2024, Akindele met with the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson Awoyinka.

During this meeting, Funke Akindele reportedly requested Lagos government support for programmes. The programmes help discover and develop promising new talent within Lagos’ creative industry.

This collaboration suggests that the upcoming movie and reality show might entertain audiences and serve as a platform to identify and empower future stars in Nigerian entertainment.

“I am very aware of the contribution of the state Government to the creative sector. Since our aim and objective of developing the industry are the same I thought it would be great to collaborate with the Lagos State Government on two projects aimed at discovering and developing new talents who will be mentored and assisted to climb the ladder of success and take over as shining stars of the industry in future,” Akindele said.

Commissioner Awoyinka welcomed the collaboration and highlighted the Lagos State Government’s existing efforts to support the film industry.

She explained how the Ministry works with institutions like Ebonylife Academy, Africa Movie Academy, and Gidi Creative Centre to offer filmmaking courses. They also show their support by backing film festivals and prestigious events like the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Awoyinka further emphasised their commitment by revealing that the government had already awarded ₦400 million in grants to filmmakers. Governor Sanwo-Olu is even promising to double that amount.

Clearly impressed, Funke Akindele took to social media on Wednesday, May 15th, to express her gratitude for the meeting. She explores potential partnerships between the Lagos State government and her own production company.

“It was such an honour to meet with the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture for Lagos State, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and other executives of the Ministry on project collaborations between the Lagos State Government and Funke Akindele Network Limited!

“We are grateful for this amazing opportunity and we look forward to maximizing the Culture, Tourism and Media sectors of Lagos State,” Akindele stated.
