Real Madrid Goes Home With The Spanish Super Cup

The Spanish Super Cup’s match finale left Barcelona fans heartbroken as Real Madrid emerged triumphant, claiming a whopping 4-1 victory over Barcelona. From the start of the game, Barcelona seemed to be weak. Real Madrid, on the other hand, started with some heat, and in 10 minutes, they landed two quick-fire goals.

The match was decided by the brilliance of Vinicius Junior, who tore through the Barcelona defence with a ruthless hat-trick in the opening half. The first blow landed in the 7th minute. Vinícius Júnior, a blur of pace and trickery on the left flank, tore past the Barcelona defence and rounded goalkeeper Iñaki Peña before a straightforward, clinical finish. Most Barca fans may agree that Barcelona’s highly defensive tactics and an error on the path of defender Jules Kounde gave Real Madrid an easy first goal.

Just three minutes later Barca fans received another surprise. Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid’s right-back, launched a long ball, bypassing the entire Barcelona midfield. Rodrygo, Real Madrid’s winger, made a well-timed run into the right channel, receiving the ball on the run and exposing Barcelona’s left flank. Rodrygo burst into the penalty area with pace and composure. This drew the defenders towards him. Rodrygo squared the ball across the face of the goal and Vinicius Junior struck again, giving Real Madrid another goal.

Robert Lewandowski finally found the target with a thunderous blast, briefly igniting a flicker of hope in the hearts of Barca fans. But any hope of a comeback was crushed just before halftime when Vinicius completed his hat-trick by calmly slotting a penalty kick past the keeper following Eric Garcia’s clumsy challenge on Rodrygo.

The second half wasn’t an intensive affair compared to the first half. Real Madrid led with more defensive solidity in the second half. They formed a compact defensive block, making it difficult for Barcelona to penetrate their lines. Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić controlled the midfield expertly. Casemiro acted as a defensive anchor, shielding the backline and winning crucial tackles.

The second half was a mere formality. Real Madrid dictated the play with an effortless swagger, and despite dominating possession in the second half, Barcelona struggled to break down Real Madrid’s organised defence. Their attacks were predictable, and it led to a few misplaced passes. Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona was largely kept quiet by Eder Militão and David Alaba. He had a couple of half-chances but failed to test Thibaut Courtois in the Real Madrid goal.

Real Madrid sealed the game with a brilliantly executed counter-attack. Dani Carvajal sent a long ball towards Rodrygo, who sprinted into the penalty box and passed it to Vinicius Junior. This move gave Vinicius Junior his fourth goal of the match. Every hope of a Barcelona comeback was dashed, and Real Madrid’s 4-1 victory was cemented in history.

And there you have it: their 13th Spanish Super Cup title.

The stadium erupted with joy in favour of Real Madrid.

The likes of Richard Mofe-Damijo, Tobi Bakre, Sola Sobowale, and Nancy Isime. You’ll also see Bollywood stars Rahama Sadau and Rajniesh Duggall grace the screen.

Sharing a glimpse into the show’s plot, Daryani offered a synopsis on her Instagram:

The video showcases Tyla and a group of dancers performing Shay Latukolan’s energetic choreography to “Back On 74,” a catchy, genre-blending song by the British group Jungle, which has amassed over one billion views on TikTok.

Each dancer is adorned in comfortable and flowing pieces from Gap’s spring collection, crafted from breathable linen fabric. Tyla’s outfit features a stylish cropped top and relaxed-fit cargo pants, accented by a swaying chain-link belt. The video not only highlights the comfortable nature of the clothing but also demonstrates how it can convey confidence and a touch of elegance, making it perfect for both movement and style.

“I love marrying my music and the way I look, I feel like it goes hand in hand,” Tyla explains. “I see that also sonically with my album that’s coming out, and with the Gap campaign.”

The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, alongside Tope Oshin, Dolapo Lola Adeleke, and Folu Storms, created a series of short films titled “In Bloom” that focus on gender equality.

In partnership with Paramount Global and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, this initiative aims to promote new voices and discussions to address systemic injustices, supporting the United Nations’ gender equality goal. Tope Oshin, a Nigerian TV and film director and UN Live board member, led the project creatively.

The films were directed by female filmmakers from Nigeria, Kenya, India, the US, and Brazil, covering various issues like period poverty, child marriage, gender-based violence, HIV and AIDS stigma, family planning, and women’s economic empowerment.

Folu Storms stars in the Nigerian episode “Aféfé,” written and directed by Adeleke, which follows the story of a beautician whose life changes dramatically when her elderly and ailing mother-in-law unexpectedly moves in.

Additionally, there’s a comedy-drama called “Period,” written and directed by Nicole Teeny from the US, portraying Fay’s journey to obtain menstrual products when she cannot afford them.

“In the Bengali drama “Alta,” written and directed by Priyanka Banerjee from India, a rebellious teenager (Mazel Vyas) who refuses to leave the bathroom prompts her desperate father to seek assistance, leading to a revealing twist in their relationship.

In the Portuguese social realist drama “Maré,” written and directed by Giuliana Monteiro from Brazil, a mother (Vanessa Giácomo) on the brink of despair seeks refuge from her tumultuous life circumstances.

Lastly, in the Swahili psychological horror “Kifungo,” written and directed by Voline Ogutu from Kenya, an ambitious romantic (Brenda Wairimu) grapples with self-acceptance after discovering her HIV-positive status.

The series will premiere on Paramount+ on March 1, 2024, in various countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, and South Korea, coinciding with Women’s History Month.

Furthermore, it will debut on Pluto TV globally and air on MTV international channels. On March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day, it will premiere on BET in Africa.

Following this, the series will have premieres in India and Africa on YouTube, followed by distribution by a global content distributor.
