5 Ugly Wears Nigerian Men Love To Wear
Published
7 months agoon
This is not to say that they should do away with these wardrobe items if they have them or are planning to buy them, it simply means they should learn to wear and pair them better and not be indifferent about how they look.
These wears are good in themselves, but what makes them ugly wears is how and what men pair them with.
Let us take a look at some of these ugly wears below:
1. Crocs on any outfit:
Consider getting sneakers and regular shoes for your wardrobe as a guy and do away with wearing Crocs all the time. It is more annoying when you dress up in a cool outfit that requires suiting footwear, but all you do is beat it down with Crocs.
In case you are not aware, Crocs are casual shoes. Left to many fashionistas, it belongs to the bin if it involves stepping outside your house. This means they don’t blend with everything and should only be worn right inside the house.
On the brighter side, Crocs are best suited for pairing with sweatpants and shorts; any other combination gives off an air of immaturity and indifference to style.
2. Baseball cap on native attire:
Wearing a baseball cap with traditional attire is a mistake. A big one. It disrupts the harmony of the entire outfit and drags down the entire look.
The only headwear that complements traditional attire are the Igbo red caps known as Opku Ozo, the Hausa Kufi cap, and the Yoruba Fila. Everything else simply doesn’t fit and transforms you into a fashion danger.
But most guys would argue this with all their might. It is not their fault anyway – they do not really know what fashion is and so they just wear whatever looks good to them.
3. Half shoes or Mules:
One baffling fashion trend is the half-shoe or mule, the footwear that appears to be in a state of identity crisis. It seems as if anyone wearing this footwear cannot decide whether they want to wear a shoe or a slippers.
In front, it poses as a complete shoe, only to expose the wearer’s heel at the back.
In the older days, these shoes were almost deemed unattractive. But in these recent times, many young men have taken a liking to them.
The alarming part is that men wear this footwear with everything – traditional attire, shorts, jeans, and chinos – there are no exceptions. The footwear looks out of place and unserious when paired with any outfit, especially because of its confusing nature.
4. Unbuttoned shirt that reveals inner round-neck:
You can layer a jacket over a round-neck tee, but not a shirt. If you have chosen to wear a round-neck shirt underneath your button-up shirt, you don’t have to show it off. This fashion trend needs to be thrown away and forgotten.
This applies to the flannel and lumberjack shirts as well. Sporting an unbuttoned shirt that displays your inner round neck makes you appear as if you’ve never left high school. But if you did leave high school, your dress sense should level up with you.
5. Sneakers on suit and native attire:
How most men wear this combo, love it, and feel good in it is what most individuals would never understand. It is termed a juvenile trend but most Nigerian men love it, especially when it is a white sneakers.
The end result is that these men look funny in their outfits. Instead of wearing sneakers on suits of native wear, consider buying proper shoes and loafers to pair well with your suits and traditional outfits.

Celebrity Singers Who Have Walked Fashion Week Runways
Published

March 15, 2024Music and fashion have always been BFFs. From Michael Jackson’s iconic sequined glove to the Supremes’ signature hairstyles, singers have influenced what we wear for decades. Today’s stars are no different. Beyoncé’s sleek silver looks in “Renaissance” and Billie Eilish’s baggy streetwear revolution are just a few examples.
But it’s not just about rocking a cool style on stage. Many musicians are now full-fledged fashion players. Superstars like Pharrell, Rihanna, and Kanye West have partnered with major brands, blurring the lines between music and fashion even further.
The past year has been a whirlwind of music and fashion collaborations. Take Pharrell Williams, for example. In February 2023, Louis Vuitton named him their new men’s creative director, following the legacy of Virgil Abloh. Just a few months later, Pharrell debuted his first collection at Paris Men’s Fashion Week, complete with a show-stopping performance alongside Jay-Z.
Just months after Pharrell Williams launched his debut menswear collection for Louis Vuitton in October 2023, Puma tapped A$AP Rocky as creative director for their motorsport category. This news came hot on the heels of Rihanna, Rocky’s long-term partner and music icon, rejoining Puma in September 2023. Rihanna returned as the face of the brand’s new “Avanti” sneaker after a hiatus from her previous role as creative director for Puma’s Fenty label.
Fashion Week isn’t just for models! It’s a star-studded event that attracts celebrities from all walks of life, including the music industry. From legendary artists like Madonna to dancing queens like Jennifer Lopez, many musicians have taken the plunge and walked the Fashion Week runway themselves. Here’s a list of some of them:
1. Beyonce on the Fashion Week runway
New York Fashion Week buzzed with purpose on September 16th, 2005. Beyoncé Knowles strutted down the runway at the “Fashion for Relief” charity event. This star-studded show wasn’t just about showcasing the latest trends; it was a powerful act of compassion. Every step Beyoncé took raised money to help victims of Hurricane Katrina, the devastating storm that had struck weeks earlier. The energy in Bryant Park crackled with a mix of fashion excitement and heartfelt support for those affected by the disaster.
2. Rihanna
On September 27th, 2007, the world of fashion witnessed a showstopper at Milan Fashion Week. Music royalty Rihanna took the Dsquared2 runway by storm, effortlessly strutting her stuff in a head-to-toe black ensemble. This appearance was part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, adding some glamour and star power to the event.
3. Miley Cyrus on the Fashion Week runway
Pop star Miley Cyrus wasn’t just sitting in the front row at New York Fashion Week in February 2020. The “Flowers” singer turned heads as she strutted down the runway at Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2020 show. This surprise appearance capped off New York Fashion Week in high style. Cyrus rocked a daring black bra top and wide-legged trousers, showcasing her toned abs. Long black gloves and a zebra print jacket added an edgy touch to the monochrome look. The crowd roared as she confidently owned the runway.
4. Dua Lipa
Pop star Dua Lipa wasn’t just singing hits in 2021; she was rocking the runway too! The chart-topping singer behind hits like “Levitating” and “New Rules” stunned the runway at Milan Fashion Week. Dressed in head-to-toe pink, she strutted for the prestigious fashion house “Versace” on September 24th, 2021. This marked Lipa’s modeling debut for the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, adding another impressive achievement to her already booming career. The “Don’t Start Now” singer stole the spotlight, proving she’s a force to be reckoned with in music and fashion.
5. Madonna
The 1994 Paris Fashion Week was a pop culture spectacle. Madonna, the queen of pop herself, strutted down the fashion week runway at the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 1995 show, dazzling the crowd in a shimmering gold ensemble. Adding to the unexpected twist, a poodle puppy trotted playfully by her side, stealing hearts and adding a playful and peculiar vibe to the already unforgettable moment.
6. Machine Gun Kelly
Milan Men’s Fashion Week turned heads in January 2022 when Grammy-nominated musician Machine Gun Kelly strutted down the runway for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2022-2023 collection. Ditching his usual edgy look, Kelly embraced a dazzling ensemble that stole the show. This time, Machine Gun Kelly opted for an all-out sparkle outfit that perfectly captured his signature genre-bending style.

Tired Of The Standard Black Suit Look? Check This Out!
Published

March 13, 2024Are you looking for inspiration for a fashionable suit for your upcoming wedding, graduation, or any special event? Many closets likely hold a collection of similar-looking black suits. While classic, they often lack individuality.
Colman Domingo emerged as a true standout in men’s fashion during recent Hollywood award seasons. His stylists, Wayman and Micah, played a significant role in crafting his revolutionary and eye-catching looks.
This article provides a springboard for exploring unique suit ideas inspired by Domingo’s bold and trend-setting approach.
1. Ditch black for white
While black remains a traditional suit colour, it might not always be the most exciting choice. Bone white offers a fresh alternative, possessing a touch of angelic elegance compared to stark white.
Domingo’s suit also incorporates interesting details such as double lapels and a strategic choice to forgo a necktie. These elements contribute to a unique and fashionable look.
By observing these aspects of Domingo’s attire, you can gain inspiration for creating your own personal style.
2. Take black to another level
While previous statements might have downplayed black suits, this specific Louis Vuitton piece demonstrates its continued potential. The true impact lies beyond just the colour. This custom-made suit boasts a unique Nehru collar, adding a touch of personality.
Domingo’s choice of accessories further elevates the look. The lapel pin adds a subtle detail, while the simple shoes complement the overall style without distracting from the suit itself.
3. Mellow with yellow
Bold-coloured suits, like mustard yellow, can be a striking choice. Colman Domingo’s appearance in a Valentino Haute Couture mustard suit garnered significant attention. Every element of the outfit complemented each other perfectly.
The textured fabric, the combination of the pale blue shirt with the mustard suit, and the necklace all contributed to a cohesive and visually appealing look.
Additionally, the gold Christian Louboutin shoes, Bulgari necklace, and Omega wristwatch added a touch of luxury and refinement.
4. The luxurious tweed
Tweed offers a luxurious and sophisticated alternative to commonly used suit fabrics. This material elevates the wearer’s look, often creating an impression of wealth and status.
Notice the fully buttoned jacket he wore instead of the more contemporary styles with one or two buttons. This classic detail contributes to the overall elegance of the tweed suit.
5. Turtleneck? Yeah, with a jacket
This look demonstrates the versatility of a turtleneck as an alternative to a traditional dress shirt. The linen fabric choice offers breathability and eliminates the need for buttons.
Black shoes with brown tassels complement the outfit without overwhelming it with excessive brown tones. Remember, proper fit is crucial—neither too constricting nor too baggy.
A common pitfall is selecting shoes that clash with the suit. Opt for classic options like oxfords or derby shoes in black or a colour matching the suit. Brown shoes should be a well-considered choice; typically, black or matching the suit is preferable.

See Some Of The Worst-Dressed Celebrities At The 2024 Paris Fashion Week
Published

March 12, 2024There’s a reason why Paris Fashion Week consistently ranks as a pinnacle event in the world of couture. It’s a week-long extravaganza where the most prestigious fashion houses, like Chanel, Miu Miu, and Louis Vuitton, unveil their latest collections in exclusive, invitation-only shows. It’s a magnet for celebrities, attracting A-listers who jet in from every corner of the globe to witness the latest breathtaking creations from renowned design houses. The 2024 Paris Fashion Week kicked off with a bang on February 26th and continued its run until March 5th. Prestigious fashion houses held exclusive, invitation-only shows where their latest creations were presented to the fashion elite.
Of course, attending Paris Fashion Week requires a wardrobe that transcends everyday attire. The event is as much about the celebrity arrivals as it is about the runway presentations themselves.
Stars are expected to push boundaries and showcase their most daring fashion choices. However, in their quest to captivate the audience, some celebrities at the 2024 edition made some rather questionable outfit decisions.
Instead of exuding runway-ready confidence, they ended up looking like they threw on clothes in a hurry, missing the mark entirely. Here are some of the worst-dressed celebrities at the 2024 Paris Fashion Week.
1. Julia Fox’s Revealing Choice at Mugler
Always one to push the boundaries of fashion, actress Julia Fox left quite an impression at the recent Mugler show. Julia Fox, renowned for her daring sartorial selections, truly outdid herself this time. Clad in a sheer catsuit that left little to the imagination, the outfit was further accentuated by shimmering silver tassels that danced with every movement.
As if the audaciously revealing ensemble wasn’t enough of a statement piece, Fox opted to complete the look with a head-turning coat of silver, metallic makeup. Her face was completely obscured by a layer of reflective silver. One couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps she was reminiscent of a futuristic warrior queen.
While this particular get-up may not be the most overtly risque she’s ever sported, and Fox is certainly no stranger to bold sartorial choices, it undeniably lacked the certain Parisian Fashion Week vibe.
2. Sydney Sweeney With the “No Pants” Trend
The trend of forgoing trousers, which has been puzzling the fashion world for some time now, appears to have gained a new and enthusiastic supporter in actress Sydney Sweeney. Ms. Sweeney, widely recognized for her captivating performance in the critically acclaimed television series “White Lotus,” seems to be the latest A-list personality to wholeheartedly embrace this daring fashion statement. During Paris Fashion Week, she attended the much-anticipated Miu Miu show in an outfit that some might consider unconventional.
Her ensemble consisted of a shimmering, undergarment-inspired crop top. She paired it with what could generously be described as extremely brief shorts. To add a layer of sophistication, she donned a sleek, oversized black blazer atop the entire ensemble.
The functionality of this particular outfit for day-to-day wear might be a topic of debate. Regardless, there’s no denying Ms. Sweeney’s unwavering commitment to the world of high fashion. Her bold choice demonstrates that some celebrities are more than willing to endure the elements in the name of creating a truly unforgettable and impactful look.
3. Cole Sprouse’s Wardrobe Mishap: A Case of Borrowed Clothes?
Cole Sprouse, the heartthrob of the hit “Riverdale,” left fans scratching their heads with his fashion choice at the show. Dressed in what could only be described as an excessively roomy ensemble, Sprouse looked as though he might have raided his grandfather’s closet for the evening.
The most striking element was undoubtedly the outsized blazer. With shoulder pads so prominent they’d make even an 80s power suit blush, the jacket practically swallowed Sprouse whole. The voluminous sleeves hung well past his fingertips, and the overall effect was one of a man simply lost in his own clothing.
While the pants were a touch less dramatic, they too adhered to a certain baggy aesthetic. It seems Sprouse embraced a bold, “more is more” approach to menswear. It left some to wonder if a more tailored look might have been a better fit.
4. Kat Graham’s Dress: A Fashion Gamble?
While strategically placed cut-outs can add a touch of undeniable allure to an outfit, one couldn’t help but wince a little at the sight of Kat Graham’s recent Schiaparelli gown. The plunging chest cutout, held together by a single, delicate gold clasp, seemed precariously close to a wardrobe malfunction. It ignited a spark of concern—could one errant sneeze or enthusiastic gesture send the entire ensemble into disarray?
5. Shawn Mendes’ Casual turn-up at 2024 Paris Fashion Week
2024 Paris Fashion Week witnessed a sartorial surprise from Shawn Mendes, a trendsetter with an impeccably curated wardrobe. In a stark departure from his usual fashion-forward ensembles, Mendes graced the recent Loewe show with a decidedly laid-back outfit that seemed more at home on a rustic camping adventure than amidst the prestigious environs of the event.
While the practicality of the Sage Green Parka provided a sense of comfortable ease, and the adherence to a monochromatic color palette kept him tethered to contemporary trends, the overall impression leaned decidedly towards the casual end of the fashion spectrum for such a distinguished occasion. However, Mendes captured the hearts of many by eschewing a traditional shirt. It allowed a glimpse of his well-defined physique beneath the unzipped jacket, adding some intrigue to his attire.
Hailee Steinfeld’s 2024 Paris Fashion Week Ensemble: More Safari Than Chic
Steinfeld’s look wasn’t entirely a miss, though. A black belt and bucket bag added a touch of contrast, and her wavy hair remained flawlessly styled. However, the muted tones and overall vibe felt more suited for an African adventure than a high-fashion event.
Perhaps the Miu Miu collection itself leaned towards a more subdued style this year. But fans are hoping that next time Steinfeld ditches the khaki and embraces her usual fashion flair with a more vibrant look.
