An important milestone has been reached by the Nigerian drama “Orah,” which won a distribution deal at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2023. This new development extends the film’s string of triumphs on the global stage.

Just a day after the movie’s first industry screening at TIFF, on September 9, 2023, word of the distribution agreement broke. According to Lonzo Nzekwe, “Orah” has a deal with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for global representation, allowing the movie to be sold in every country besides Canada.

The movie’s producers—Floyd Kane, Freddie Films, Amos Adetuyi, and Circle Blue Entertainment—expressed their joy over the agreement and anticipation of showing this potent film to people all over the world. Their joint statement emphasizes the importance of CAA’s engagement in distributing the movie to viewers around the world.

As a crime thriller, “Orah” follows the story of an unauthorized immigrant who works as a cab driver in Toronto. When her teenage son is brutally murdered in Nigeria, her life takes a devastating turn. She sets out on a mission to bring down the multinational money launderers accountable for her son’s passing because she is determined to seek justice.

Scenes from the movie were shot in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, as well as Lagos, Nigeria, during its production. OC Ukeje, Tina Mba, Lucy Ejim, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Femi Lawson, Ruby Akubueze, Somkele Iyah-Idahlama, Oris Erhuero, Morgan Bedard, Christopher Seivright, and Agape Mngomezulu are among the performers who make up the diverse cast of “Orah,” which also includes players from Canada and Nigeria.

The Other Black Girl series is an American comedy, thriller produced by Rashida Jones and based on the novel of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris.

The drama’s first season will consist of 10 episodes, and the series, The Other Black Girl, will explore race and workplace dynamics.

The series focuses on Nella Rogers, an editorial assistant at Wagner Books, a successful New York publisher. She often felt lonely and marginalized because she was the only black woman working at the company. Much to her surprise, however, Wagner hires Hazel-May McCall, another black woman, and the two quickly become friends. Shortly thereafter, Nella receives cryptic messages telling her to leave Wagner Books.

However, Nella and Hazel’s friendship begins to crumble after Hazel’s advice gets Nella in trouble with her boss and Wagner’s associates begin to favour Hazel. Thís leads Nella to wonder if Hazel is purposely preventing her from making any progress. Eventually, Nella begins to uncover Wagner’s dark history and dark secrets.

The series stars Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young and Eric McCormack. It is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on September 13, 2023.
