Are we to expect more Kano killings? The killers of an Igbo woman, Mrs Bridget Agbahime, aged 74, in Kano for alleged blasphemy have expressed their readiness to kill anyone who insults the Prophet Muhammad, according to Sahara Reporters.

Kano Governor -Abdullahi Ganduje
In spite of a stakeholders’ meeting between Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and prominent community and religious leaders, some residents of the state have vowed to kill again if anyone blasphemes the Holy Prophet.
The Igbo woman was killed after she refused to allow a Muslim man perform ablution in front of her shop.
The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who met and condoled with the husband of the deceased, Pastor Mike Agbahime, during the meeting, described the action of the mob as illegal and unjust. The governor condemned the killing of Agbahime and promised that justice would be done.
However, following a post of photos of the meeting and the resolutions reached by the Director-General, Media and Communications to the Kano Governor, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, on Ganduje’s official Facebook page, some Nigerians appeared to be spoiling for a fight as they condemned the state government for taking sides with the deceased, whom they claimed insulted Prophet Muhammad and promised that anybody who did such would suffer the same fate as the woman.
When asked about the apparent Facebook threats, the Director of Muslim Rights Concern, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, had this to say:
“The JNI has condemned the killing. The Sultan (of Sokoto) also condemned it. The Emir of Kano (Muhammad Sanusi) has always been on the side of dialogue. Let’s not look for non-existent residents. Those who matter have spoken. What we should all do at this point is to assist the police in ensuring that justice is done.”
Will the Kano killings continue? Is Kano a Sharia State now?
