Nigerian music star Asake recently unveiled his third album, “Lungu Boy.” This album features collaborations with some international artists, including Wizkid, Central Cee, Travis Scott, Stormzy, and Ludmilla. Following the album’s release, Asake engaged with his fans through an Instagram Live session.
During this interaction, a fan inquired about his consistent use of the Yoruba language in his music. In response, the award-winning singer clarified that while he possesses the ability to sing in English, he finds greater comfort and authenticity in expressing himself through Yoruba.
“Not like I can’t sing in English but I am more comfortable singing in Yoruba,” Asake said. “So if you f**c with me, f**c with me in Yoruba,” he added.
During this session, Asake revealed that he didn’t initially know Wizkid would be featured on the song ‘MMS’. Asake explained that P.Priime, the producer of the song, played it for Wizkid. Wizkid liked the song so much that he decided to record a verse for it.
During the live session, a fan asked why Davido wasn’t featured on the new album. Asake responded by saying that he actually has some unreleased songs with Davido. He mentioned that these songs will be released at a later date.
The singer also talked about his upcoming ‘Lungu Boy’ tour. This tour will include performances at some famous venues. One of these is the O2 Arena in London, where Asake has performed before in 2023.
Another is the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York. By performing at Madison Square Garden, Asake will become only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline a show at this prestigious venue.

Nollywood filmmaker Omoni Oboli disclosed that she exchanged her scripts for acting roles early in her career, which motivated her to pursue directing.
In an interview with Radionow 95.3 FM, Oboli recounted the challenges she faced at the start of her filmmaking journey, including giving away her screenplays for free and trying to direct her own films.
“I was trading my scripts, I’d say you know what, just take it, don’t pay me. Just give me a role in the film. So, I started to do that. But then I’ll watch the film and I realised, Okay it’s not quite what I had in my head when I was writing cos I see what I’m writing, I write in pictures. I see what I’m writing, so when I’m watching the movie it’s so different. Not to say that it wasn’t good because no two directors will direct the same script in the same way. So I said to myself, if my stories are going to have my DNA, then I’m going to have to direct them myself,” she said.
Omoni Oboli emphasized that she felt hesitant at the beginning of her directing journey. She lacked confidence but mustered up the courage to pursue her dreams.
“And it was a scary thought, really who do you think you are to come and direct a film? Like who are you again? You know it was so scary, but then I said to myself, Warri no dey carry lass na. Wwetin dem get wey I no get? I was like, I’ll do this thing. So I started understudying directors, like I’m acting on set but I’m watching the director closely. And I said you know what? Maybe I need some formal education on this. So I went to the New York Film Academy for a short course,” she added.
