YouTube Premium Expands To Five More African Countries

YouTube has recently expanded its services to an additional ten countries. This includes five African countries. As of December 2020, YouTube Premium was made available in Ghana, Kenya, and Senegal, providing users with ad-free and uninterrupted streaming on the platform.

The recent expansion of the service to Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, Libya, and Morocco now allows even more users in Africa to enjoy the benefits of YouTube Premium. In addition to the African countries, the service was also launched in Azerbaijan, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Reunion, and Yemen. This move is part of YouTube’s ongoing effort to provide accessible services to users in various parts of the world.

A YouTube Music Premium subscription unlocks an ad-free listening experience and the ability to download music for offline playback. This expanded functionality allows subscribers to use YouTube Music’s vast music library, boasting millions of official songs, live performances, music videos, remixes, podcasts, and even rare tracks. The platform personalizes the experience by curating recommendations tailored to individual preferences.

YouTube Music boasts a suite of features designed to elevate the user experience. Smart Search facilitates effortless song discovery, while the Activity Bar allows for seamless playlist navigation. The Explore tab keeps listeners informed about the latest releases and trending music.

“With the YouTube Music app, we’ve built a dedicated music streaming experience that delivers over 100 million official songs, along with an extensive catalog of live performances, music videos, remixes, podcasts, and hard-to-find music that you can’t get anywhere else”

YouTube’s head of music for sub-Saharan Africa, Addy Awofisayo, said in December.

“We’ve taken all of that music content and created a personalized journey through sound that fits your particular music needs and preferences.”

In a move to promote transparency on its platform, YouTube recently introduced a new tool within Creator Studio. This tool allows creators to disclose when their videos utilize realistic-looking altered or synthetic media, like that generated by AI.

This disclosure, displayed as a label on the video itself, aims to build trust with viewers. This move will ensure they are aware of any potential manipulation within the content. Examples of content requiring disclosure include videos where a person’s likeness has been digitally altered or real-world footage has been significantly modified.
