“Ijogbon” has surpassed its 10th position on Netflix’s top 10 non-English films globally. The latest data reveals that the movie accumulated 5.7 million hours of views from a total of 2.9 million views between October 16 and 22, 2023.
It stands as the sixth most-watched non-English film worldwide, competing against films from Hollywood and Bollywood. Notably, it remains the only Nigerian film in this category.
During its initial week from October 13 to 15, 2023, “Ijogbon” achieved 4.2 million hours of views, securing the eighth spot on the chart.
Written by Tunde Babalola, “Ijogbon” revolves around four teenagers from the rural village of Oyo Oke in southwest Nigeria, portrayed by Ruby Akubueze, Kayode Ojuolape, Fawaz of Ikorodu Boiz, and Oluwaseyi Ebiesuwa.
Their lives take a tumultuous turn when they stumble upon a pouch of diamonds, and chaos ensues when the diamond owners come searching for their treasure. The teenagers must band together to save one of their friends.
Directed by Kunle Afolayan, the film’s cast includes Gabriel Afolayan, Adunni Ade, Manuel Bimbo, Yemi Solade, Sam Dede, Gregory Ojefua, Saeed Mallam, Femi Branch, Femi Adebayo, and Dorathy Bachor.

“Ijogbon” currently holds the title of the most-watched Netflix film in Nigeria and has expanded its reach, ranking in the top 15 in countries such as the Bahamas, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela.
Only two weeks have passed since its debut on October 13, 2023, and its future performance on the global chart remains to be seen.
