New Statue For BRIT Awards 2019 Revealed

The statue for the BRIT Awards 2019 has been unveiled; designed by renowned architect Sir David Adjaye.

The new trophy, which is cast in solid glass, was created after Sir David teamed up with Czech glassmaking and design company LASVIT

Sir David describes the trophy as “the manifestation of a great material forged in fire and shaped into the body of a woman”.

He explained: “The Brit Awards are a quintessential part of a celebration of British talent and a powerful forum to really talk about the evolving nature of British culture and the contribution of people to that culture.”

“She is unique, and proportionally she is very different.”

Outlining his thinking behind the design, Sir David said it was “an opportunity to question and explore – what is the nature of perfection and imperfection, what is the notion of beauty?”.

“It was exciting to transfer those ideas to a smaller object,” he said.

“Now, we have something that I really, really love; I’m very happy with it.”

The latest statue comes after the 2018 offering was designed by Turner Prize winning sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor – who is responsible for iconic creations such as The Orbit in East London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Jason Iley, the CEO of Sony Music UK and Ireland, said: ” David’s treatment has surpassed my expectations, continuing the transformation of the award, as well as building on the legacy of outstanding creativity over the past few years.

“Brit winners on the night will take home a truly stunning piece of work that’s totally unique to them with each award carrying its own individual and distinctive imperfections.”

Born on January 17, 1931, Jones captivated audiences for decades with his iconic deep voice and presence. His long career in film, television, and theatre made him one of the most recognizable and respected actors in Hollywood. He gained widespread fame for voicing Darth Vader in the “Star Wars” franchise, King Jaffe Joffer in “Coming to America”, and Mufasa in Disney’s “The Lion King”.

Jones also made a name for himself on stage, earning a Tony Award for his lead performance in “The Great White Hope”. James Earl Jones was one of the few performers to achieve the coveted EGOT status. Also, he has won two Emmys, a Grammy, an Honorary Oscar, and three Tony Awards. American actor and professional wrestler John Cena has recently addressed his decision to remain child-free. During a recent interview on the Club Shay Shay show, he shared his thoughts. These thoughts are on why he – at the age of 47 – and his wife have chosen not to have children.

He said, “I don’t want kids, I’m 47 now and I don’t have them. Everyone asks if I want them and I have to tell you that it’s not the easiest out there because a lot of why we’re here is to reproduce.”

John Cena explained that despite the societal expectations and the natural desire to reproduce, he has made a different choice. He reflected on his own personality. Further, he emphasized that his personality does not align with the requirements of parenting.

“I have a certain curiosity about life and I also know the investment that it takes. My biggest fear is, as someone who’s driven, many times stubborn and selfish, I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity but I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be able to invest the time that it needs to be a great parent,” Cena explained.

He added, “I want to live life for all it is and I still have a lot to do, and I still want to do a lot and I have a wonderful partner to do it with. We have had open conversations about this and we share the same values.”

The professional wrestler, who announced his retirement in July, acknowledged the difficulties of discussing this personal choice. He emphasized his intention to continue pursuing his passions instead of having children.

“It’s a tough subject to talk about because it immediately puts you in a category and we can’t help but judge, human nature so we are all judgmental. I’d like to believe that I operate under the construction that everyone’s living their lives and I can tell him that I’ve thought long and hard about this since 15 and 16 years old,” he stressed.

He also emphasized that he and his wife were in agreement about not having children, even before they got married.

BET announced the exciting news in a press release on June 24th. They’re clearly thrilled to have Will back, with Connie Orlando, an executive at BET, calling him a “global icon” and expressing her honour at having him perform. This is sure to be a highlight of the award show!

She added, “We look forward to Will adding to yet another defining night for the culture that is not to be missed.”

Music is where it all began for Will Smith!

Before becoming a 90s acting icon with “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Will rose to fame as a rapper. He even rapped the show’s unforgettable theme song! He’s no stranger to dropping new music either.

Just recently, he teamed up with Sean Paul for the song “Light Em Up” for their upcoming film “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Fun fact: Will first hit the music scene alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, who also co-starred in “Fresh Prince” with him.
