A record-breaking celebration party was held for the movie”The wedding party”.

The Elfike collective hosted the cast and crew of ‘the wedding party’ to a fabulous wedding-themed costume party in Lagos to celebrate its record-breaking cinema run and officially declare box office takings now in excess of N450m since its December 2016 theatrical release, Kemi Adetiba-directorial debut is now the highest grossing Nigerian movie of all time.

The movie premiered in Toronto on 8 September 2016 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

“The Wedding Party” is a romantic comedy that was released in 2016. Written by playwright Tosin Otudeko and directed by Kemi Adetiba.

The Wedding party follows the shenanigans that go on during the planning of a wedding in Nigeria.

Dunni, a 24 year old art gallery owner and only daughter of her parents, Engineer Bamidele and Mrs Tinuade Coker, is about to marry the love of her life, IT entrepreneur Dozie, the handsome son of Chief Felix and Lady Obianuju Onwuka.

The couple took a vow of chastity and are looking forward to a ground -breaking first night together as a married couple.

Between matchmaking attempts on the bridal train, a wedding planner on a mission to succeed, the unruly behaviour of some ‘village’ guests much to Tinuade’s horror, Dunni’s uncertainty about her new husband’s faithfulness during the time of their courtship, amidst colourful aso-ebi, eclectic music, small chops, and souvenir drama, we begin to wonder whether Dunni and Dozie will get through their wedding reception unscathed.

The movie starred Adesua Etomi, Banky w, Alibaba, Sola Sobowale, Ireti Doyle, Richard Mofe-Damijo among others.

A collaboration between Ebonylife films, Filmone distribution, Koga studios and Inkblot Productions, “The Wedding Party” is currently the highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time.

Cinema Axis’, a website based in Toronto Canada is dedicated to reviewing films, in one of it’s reviews by contributor Courtney Small said: “The Wedding Party may not offer many surprises from a narrative standpoint, but there is no denying that the film is a pure crowd-pleaser.

“Generating many well-earned belly laughs, it is impossible to leave the film without a huge smile on one’s face.”

The series is directed by Danbrown the Artist and features the voices of Dan Brown himself, Prince Soiprala, Tuonims Alabo, and Vanessa Onu.

4. Lady Buckit and the Motley Mopster (2020)

5. Malaika: Warrior Queen (2019)

Buckle up for “Malika,” a new movie available on YouTube that takes you back to 15th century West Africa. The story centers around a powerful queen and military leader named Malika. She’s not your typical ruler.

Malika wasn’t always a queen. She was a child prodigy who unexpectedly inherited the throne from her father, causing a major split in the Kingdom of Azzaz. Through years of struggle, Malika managed to reunite the kingdom and even expand it into one of the greatest empires in West Africa. But building an empire comes with challenges, and Malika must face the consequences of her ambition.

The movie features a star-studded cast, including Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Femi Branch. Roye Okupe directed the film. So why not grab some popcorn and dive into this epic historical drama?

6. Èwà (Beans) (2024)

Tems To Perform Her New Single On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”

Nigerian superstar Tems is returning to the stage on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on May 20th, 2024. This will be her second appearance on the show. In 2021, she joined Wizkid to perform their massive hit “Essence,” which has won multiple awards.

Tems is using this appearance to promote her highly anticipated debut album, “Born In The Wild.” The album is set to drop on June 7th, 2024. So, to build excitement, she’s already released several singles. They include “Me & U,” “Not An Angel,” and her most recent, “Love Me Jeje.” “Love Me Jeje” samples a classic song by Seyi Sodimu & Shaffy Bello.

Tems’ rise to fame has been meteoric. Since her breakout collaboration with Wizkid on “Essence” in 2020, she’s become one of Africa’s biggest music stars. Her talent has landed her collaborations with global artists like Beyoncé, Drake, and Future. The latter’s “Wait For U” earned her a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

On top of all that, Tems just received nominations for Best Video Director and Best Gospel/Inspirational Song for “Me & U” at the 2024 BET Awards.
