Netflix has revealed the premiere date for its latest feature film, “Tòkunbọ̀” which Ramsey Nouah directed. Chris Odeh produced the film. Scheduled to debut on Friday, August 23, 2024, this thrilling film portrays Nigeria’s gripping underworld of crime.
“Tòkunbọ̀” is Ramsey Nouah’s third venture as a director.
The film centres around a smuggler who is thrust into a high-stakes mission. With only three hours to deliver a government official’s daughter to her captor, the smuggler faces severe consequences if he fails. These consequences could endanger not only his life but also the lives of his family. This intense narrative sheds light on the desperation that drives individuals in Nigeria’s shadowy world of crime.
The film boasts a stellar cast, including Gideon Okeke, Chidi Mokeme, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Nobert Young, Majid Michael, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaye, Tosin Adeyemi, Stanley ‘Funnybone’ Chibunna, Darasimi Nadi, and Aaron Sunday. Their performances will bring the gripping story to life. Still, it promises viewers a cinematic experience filled with suspense and emotional depth.
Ramsey Nouah, a renowned Nigerian actor and director, has built a remarkable career in the film industry.
He gained widespread recognition in 2010. This was when he won the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work in “The Figurine“.
In 2019, he made his directorial debut with “Living in Bondage: Breaking Free“. The movie is a remake for which he secured rights in 2015. Chris Odeh produced the film. Besides, it achieved great success, winning seven awards at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Continuing his directorial journey, Nouah helmed “Rattle Snake: The Ahanna Story”. Again, the movie is a remake of the 1995 classic “Rattlesnake”, also produced by Odeh.
Nouah’s entry into the world of film began in the early 1990s with his role in the soap opera “Fortunes”. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films, including “End of the Wicked“, “Battle of Love“, “Power of Love“, “Blood Sisters”, and “Merry Men”.
