Since leaving his previous label and starting his own (“Young Legend”), Joeboy has released his first song under the new banner, “Osadebe.” It’s a smooth and introspective track that encourages positive thinking, all brought to life by producer K-Dreamz.
The song nods to the classic hit “Osondi Owendi” by the late Chief Osita Osadebe, a track that broke language and geographical barriers to become a beloved tune in Nigeria. Joeboy even sings, “I no dey cross my lane, I’m living like Osadebe, Osondi Owendi (meaning one man’s treasure is another man’s trash),” showing his commitment to staying true to himself and his path.
This desire for artistic control is what motivated Joeboy to create Young Legend and partner with Warner Music. He wants to build a future that reflects his vision and allows him to create music on his own terms.
“The fact is, you can do things on your own terms and stay in your lane and achieve the same, if not better, results than other people living loudly. I am my biggest competition, and I really don’t care what others are doing. The only person that I’m focused on is me,” Joeboy said about his new song.
Despite facing criticism for keeping a low profile and shying away from the spotlight, Joeboy stays true to his preference for private life in his new song, “Osadebe.” He subtly reiterates his desire to let his music and accomplishments speak for themselves rather than seeking constant media attention and living a flashy superstar lifestyle.
Ever since his breakthrough in 2019 with the hit single “Baby,” Joeboy has established himself as a major force in Nigerian music. With two albums, two EPs, and several chart-topping songs under his belt, “Osadebe” marks the exciting beginning of what is anticipated to be another incredible year for the talented artist. He’s proving that success and artistic expression can thrive even without living a life constantly under the public eye.
