People have been homeschooled and nothing happened. Some have gone on to be the most successful in their fields. Does the fact that homeschool worked for some mean that it is flawless and faultless? No! Are there really things to worry about? Yes!
Following the general believe that nothing is completely perfect and that everything that has a good side has a bad side too. These are 3 reasons why you should not homeschool your kids.
Parents May Not Be Good Teachers
Teaching is a skill or talent. It either comes naturally to you or you learn it as a skill. If you are not a natural born teacher and you don’t learn how to teach, you would be a terrible teacher. They may have an idea of how their kids need to be taught. That doesn’t mean they know how to teach them. You may just be unintentionally giving your child a bad education simply because you don’t know how to teach.
Home School Hide Kids From The World
Where did you learn most of the things you know? Outside! We learn a lot from exposure to people, from every day’s interactions with the outside world. Chances are that he won’t be able to relate with other people well and people skill is a very important part of people’s lives today.
No Competition
One thing that made us study hard in school was the fact that we wanted to be the best, we wanted that first position. In some schools where the competition was strict, you knew you had to get the best grade in all your subjects. If your kid is homeschooled all he needs to do is pass the cut off mark. He has no classmates to drive him to be the best.
Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri is raising awareness concerning the lack of essential vaccines for children in some Nigerian hospitals. Kadiri recently shared her experience on Instagram. She revealed that she took her daughter to the hospital for routine vaccinations but was turned away due to a shortage. The specific vaccines her daughter needed were for cholera, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox).
She wrote,
“My nurse just informed me that there are no vaccines for babies at the hospital!!! Mothers, are you facing the same Vaccination issues? Federal Government, please look into this. My daughter needs her immunization. One year and counting.”
This encounter prompted Ruth Kadiri to use her platform to call on the Nigerian government to intervene. Vaccines play a crucial role in protecting children from preventable diseases, and their absence can have serious consequences.
By sharing her story, Kadiri is hoping to shed light on this public health issue and urge the authorities to take action. This will ensure these vital vaccines are readily available for all children in Nigeria.
The MMR vaccine is a superhero, protecting children from four nasty diseases: measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox). To make sure this protection is extra strong, it’s actually given in two doses.
The first dose is typically given to babies between 9 and 15 months old. Then, to ensure long-lasting immunity, a second dose is given when they are between 15 months and 6 years old. There needs to be at least a 4-week wait between the two doses for them to work best.
In a recent interview with Top Charts Africa on May 27, 2024, Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe opened up about the importance of criticism.
He emphasised that criticism, rather than being something to shy away from, is actually a valuable tool for self-improvement. Arukwe believes that constructive criticism can help us learn and grow as individuals.
“I love criticism and feedback because it helps you to become a better actor. You can’t be an actor if you’re not open to criticism,” he said.
Uzor Arukwe didn’t stop there.
He went on to say that actors, in particular, need to develop thick skin. They should learn how to accept feedback and criticism, even if it’s tough to hear and they don’t necessarily agree with it.
“An actor doesn’t need to love criticism, but they must learn to accept it,” he said.
Uzor Arukwe also shared his thoughts on what makes a truly great actor. He explained that it’s not just about delivering lines perfectly.
“There are too many factors involved. One, for me, is the ability to listen and react accordingly. Also, mastering stillness is important too. In this part of the world, we’re taught to react to everything and every situation. But, in reality, people don’t have to react to every utterance and situation. For me, the ability of an actor to attentively and honestly listen and be still is what makes a great actor,” he said.
Arukwe disagreed with the common idea that acting is just about memorising lines. He believes there’s much more to it.
“Acting isn’t really about the lines, but about how you perform in a natural way that makes people question if you’re acting or not,” he said.
Uzor Arukwe is a star in Nollywood who’s been impressing audiences for years. He first appeared on screen in the 2014 film “Unspoken Truth.” His big break came in 2019 with the movie “Code Wilo,” where he played Sergeant Tutu.
Since then, Uzor has racked up credits in a variety of Nollywood films, including “In Line,” “Sugar Rush,” “The Set Up,” “Hire a Woman,” “Kpali,” “Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke,” and “A Tribe Called Judah.” He’s definitely an actor to watch!
