Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has clapped back at a troll criticising her appearance. The troll, commenting on James’ Instagram post, claimed that her beauty was solely due to filters and wigs.

In response, James posted a video directly addressing the hater on October 25, 2024. Without makeup or a wig, she emphasized the importance of positive online behaviour and its impact on others. James’ message was clear: she is beautiful in her natural state and will not tolerate negativity.

“The problem with many of you is that you are not very smart,” she started.

She continued, “Many of you aren’t very smart because you should be very intentional about the kind of energy you give off and where you give off that energy because, whether it be negative energy or positive energy, you should be concerned about the result of the energy you give off.”

Veekee James advised the troll to focus their energy on something more productive.

She emphasized that negative comments would not affect her self-esteem. She said,

“If you come on my page and drop something that is supposed to make me feel ashamed of something that is supposed to make me feel bad, you should be ready to see that it yields results, right? Based on the fact that you know what I’m someone who feels ashamed when people say stuff about me, when people say negative things about me, then you should know that this energy your bringing is going to hit.”

“But if you know that when you keep giving some of energy and it’s not giving results, my brother, my sister, why are you wasting your time? Why waste your time where you won’t get results?” the designer added.

Veekee stated that negative comments do not bother her as much as the troll might think.

“It’s clear you’re not purpose or self-driven, who would be ashamed to come on social media with my natural face?”

She embraced her natural beauty, saying, “This is the face of someone who hasn’t slept in days and has been under the sun. This is a perfect face and a face designer by God, and skin created by the almighty. He made me in his own image I’m 100 percent. If you want to talk rubbish, go to the place where it might be appreciated… You can’t shame the shameless; I am unapologetically me.”

“I want to have a girl, but I won’t know what to do because I only know about boys so far, but it’d be an adventure,” she admitted.

The couple welcomed their first son, RZA Athelson, on Friday, May 13, 2022. Then, in February 2023, Rihanna made an unforgettable announcement about her second pregnancy during her electrifying Super Bowl halftime performance. Wearing a bold, form-fitting red jumpsuit, she unzipped her outfit and gently rubbed her stomach, proudly revealing her growing belly.

The surprise announcement took the world by storm, sending fans and social media into a happy frenzy. Falz Replies Verydarkman On Their Ongoing Issue | fab.ng

Falz, a prominent Nigerian rapper, has finally addressed the defamation case against social media personality Verydarkman (VDM). Verydarkman had made false allegations, claiming that Falz and his father, Femi Falana, had helped Bobrisky evade money laundering charges.

In a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, Falz recounted his conversation with VDM following the release of the defamatory video.

He said,

“This guy was instantly defensive from the beginning; I’m like bro, try and listen. What are you instantly fighting about? And he said to me, without minding words, ‘shebi you’re a lawyer; go to court.'”

“I’ll have you know that there’s a criminal angel to defamation, and I chose not to go that way. He could have very well been arrested. What you’ve posted is a load of bollocks, absolutely false and I need you to take it down and offer an apology within a certain amount of time and what did he do? Nothing,” he added.

Falz emphasized that he had no personal issues with VDM until the social media personality defamed his father.

“I no dey find trouble Baba, I dey my dey. You set your ring light and begin dey talk all this nonsense about me, and you expect me to sit down? He trampled on every single thing my father stood for, sticking out his neck for the oppressed. So this level of disrespect ? See our people say that any child who says that his mother would not sleep, he himself would not sleep,” he said.

Definitively, he added, “So if you say you want to find trouble, trouble is my work; it’s my work. If you say that’s what you’re looking for, let’s go.”

The controversy began on September 24, 2024. This was when VDM released an alleged voicetape of Bobrisky claiming that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son had helped him avoid money laundering charges.

VDM apparently accused Falz and his father, Femi Falana, of being involved in Bobrisky’s ordeal. He also alleged a potential relationship between Falz and Bobrisky.

Following the backlash on social media, Falz issued a statement. He demanded VDM to retract the video and apologize within 24 hours. However, VDM refused to apologize. He insisted that he had not defamed Falz or his father and expressing his readiness to face legal action.

On October 15, 2024, the Lagos High Court ordered VDM to retract his defamatory statements against the Falana family, but he failed to comply.

Femi Kuti has expressed his views on the mass emigration trend, which Nigerians popularly call the “japa trend,” and has urged Nigerian youth to fight for a better country.

During the 2024 Celebration Festival, Kuti emphasised that he would not relocate to another country, noting that citizens of other nations had to fight for their own freedom.

He began, “People have asked me, ‘Shey you no go japa?’ japa to where?”

“Let me tell you about Europe; you see Europe and what made it great. Do you think they ran away? No, they fought; Europe fought hundreds of civil wars; dem just dey kill themselves. America had one of the worst civil wars in history, which is why till today Americans still carry guns,” he added, describing the past of some of the nations where Nigerians frequently relocate.

Femi Kuti called on Nigerians to acknowledge their duty to defend and improve their own nation.

“We must understand that we have to stay here and fight for a better country that we love. We did not build the Fela Shrine in Los Angeles or in London; we built it in Africa. Get your senses together because this country depends on you,” the singer continued.

“Made is a British citizen but where is he? He is in Nigeria, and he cannot be anywhere else. What does he want to do there? If they call him for work, he’d go there to play and come back. Who would take over the shrine? I want to retire.”
