The music scene in Nigeria has been heating up in 2024! Although things started slowly, the past few months saw a wave of hit singles. TurnTable Charts, a popular music publication in Nigeria, just released their data on the most streamed songs for the first half of the year.
Interestingly, most of the chart-toppers were actually released in the latter part of 2023. That shows their lasting popularity!
Leading the pack is Kizz Daniel’s remix of “Twe Twe,” featuring the ever-popular Davido. Right behind at number two is Chike’s hit song “Egwu,” a collaboration with rising star Mohbad.
Rounding out the top three is Seyi Vibez with his smooth track “Cana.” Number four goes to Shallipopi’s “Cast,” a song that features Odumodublvk and dominated the charts for weeks. Seyi Vibez makes a second appearance on the list at number five with “Different Patterns.”
Only one female artist is cracking the top ten this time around: Ayra Starr. Her song “Commas,” a lead single from her recent album “The Year I Turned 21,” sits at number seven.
There’s also a little bit of international flavour on the chart! The South African group consisting of Titom, Yuppe, S.N.E, and EeQue makes a surprise appearance with their viral hit “Tshwala Bam,” landing the number ten spot.
