The award night of the Oscars 2024 was both unforgettable and fashionable. In terms of inclusivity, they went the extra mile by inviting well-known content creators to grace the carpet. The likes of Drea Okeke and Kristy Sarah were live for some thrilling content. But there were even more delightful highlights.

For one, Oppenheimer triumphed at the 2024 Oscars, sweeping the night with a whopping seven awards. Director Christopher Nolan emerged victorious, taking home the award for Best Director. Cillian Murphy delivered a performance so powerful it earned him Best Actor honors. Robert Downey Jr. wasn’t left out either, adding Best Supporting Actor to his trophy case. The film’s brilliance extended beyond acting, with wins for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing. Oppenheimer’s dominance at the Oscars was evidence of its cinematic masterpiece.

Emma Stone took home the Best Actress award for her role in “Poor Things.” This unexpected win came as a surprise, as many expected Lily Gladstone to win for her acclaimed performance in “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Poor Things” didn’t stop there; the film racked up three additional awards in the technical categories, winning Best Costume Design, Production Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her powerful performance in “The Holdovers!” The heartwarming animated film “The Boy and the Heron” by Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki soared to victory, winning Best Animated Feature. International cinema also got its moment in the spotlight, with Jonathan Glazer’s “The Zone of Interest” winning Best International Feature. The hard-hitting documentary “20 Days in Mariupol” earned the award for Best Documentary.

The Oscars 2024 buzzed with anticipation when the nominations were revealed. Christopher Nolan’s epic biopic, Oppenheimer, dominated with a whopping 13 nominations. Hot on its heels was the intriguing “Poor Things,” with 11 nods. Martin Scorsese’s highly-anticipated “Killers of the Flower Moon” secured 10 nominations, while the live-action “Barbie” surprised with a strong showing, earning 8 nominations.

Hollywood glittered under the lights of the 2024 Oscars! Held at the Dolby Theatre, the ceremony aired live on ABC at an earlier time this year, covering audiences in over 200 countries. Jimmy Kimmel took the stage as host for the fourth time. However, the celebratory atmosphere was tinged with seriousness. A large-scale “Free Palestine” march, advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza, took place in Los Angeles on the same day, causing traffic disruptions near the ceremony.

American actor and professional wrestler John Cena has recently addressed his decision to remain child-free. During a recent interview on the Club Shay Shay show, he shared his thoughts. These thoughts are on why he – at the age of 47 – and his wife have chosen not to have children.

He said, “I don’t want kids, I’m 47 now and I don’t have them. Everyone asks if I want them and I have to tell you that it’s not the easiest out there because a lot of why we’re here is to reproduce.”

John Cena explained that despite the societal expectations and the natural desire to reproduce, he has made a different choice. He reflected on his own personality. Further, he emphasized that his personality does not align with the requirements of parenting.

“I have a certain curiosity about life and I also know the investment that it takes. My biggest fear is, as someone who’s driven, many times stubborn and selfish, I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity but I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be able to invest the time that it needs to be a great parent,” Cena explained.

He added, “I want to live life for all it is and I still have a lot to do, and I still want to do a lot and I have a wonderful partner to do it with. We have had open conversations about this and we share the same values.”

The professional wrestler, who announced his retirement in July, acknowledged the difficulties of discussing this personal choice. He emphasized his intention to continue pursuing his passions instead of having children.

“It’s a tough subject to talk about because it immediately puts you in a category and we can’t help but judge, human nature so we are all judgmental. I’d like to believe that I operate under the construction that everyone’s living their lives and I can tell him that I’ve thought long and hard about this since 15 and 16 years old,” he stressed.

He also emphasized that he and his wife were in agreement about not having children, even before they got married.

BET announced the exciting news in a press release on June 24th. They’re clearly thrilled to have Will back, with Connie Orlando, an executive at BET, calling him a “global icon” and expressing her honour at having him perform. This is sure to be a highlight of the award show!

She added, “We look forward to Will adding to yet another defining night for the culture that is not to be missed.”

Music is where it all began for Will Smith!

Before becoming a 90s acting icon with “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Will rose to fame as a rapper. He even rapped the show’s unforgettable theme song! He’s no stranger to dropping new music either.

Just recently, he teamed up with Sean Paul for the song “Light Em Up” for their upcoming film “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Fun fact: Will first hit the music scene alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, who also co-starred in “Fresh Prince” with him.
