Disney Animation and Kugali Media are launching “Iwaju,” a brand new sci-fi animated series set in Lagos, Nigeria. Get ready for a thrilling journey full of mystery and excitement.

In this series, you will meet Tola, a young girl from a wealthy island who dives into the bustling city with her friend Kole. Their adventure takes a twist when they encounter Bode, a tech whiz with a dark side. Luckily, Tola’s family and her tech pet, Otin, are there to save the day.

But “Iwaju” is more than just action and fun. It explores social issues in Nigerian society, inspired by the differences between the wealthy islanders and the mainlanders. This unique perspective adds depth and meaning to the story.

“Iwaju” was brought to life by a talented team of writers and creators. The story itself was penned by Adeola and Halima Hudson, taking viewers on a futuristic journey through Nigeria.

Behind the scenes, Hamid Ibrahim, Toluwalakin Olowofoyeko, and Ziki Nelson (who also serves as the director) masterminded the entire project.

To bring the characters to life, “Iwaju” boasts a stellar cast of Nigerian actors. Familiar faces like Dayo Okeniyi and Simisola Gbadamosi join forces with acting veterans like Femi Branch and Siji Soetan.

British-Nigerian actress Weruche Opia brought in international flair. Fans of Nollywood will likely recognise names like Shaffy Bello, Obi Maduegbuna, Kehinde Bankole, Chioma Omeruah, Bisola Ayeiola, and Tosin Oshinaike. Lala Akindoju doubles as the casting director, ensuring the perfect fit for each role.

After three years of anticipation, the wait is finally over. On February 28, 2024, all episodes of “Iwaju” will be available to stream on Disney+. Don’t miss out on this sci-fi adventure you won’t forget.
