Popular Nigerian comedian and activist, Mr. Macaroni, publicly scolded singer Davido in response to a recent incident involving Davido’s bodyguard assaulting a fan.
The incident sparked outrage after a video went viral showing Davido walking with his security team when a fan excitedly approached him for a selfie. While attempting to get Davido in the video, the fan reportedly bumped into the entourage. One of Davido’s bodyguards then reacted by forcefully slapping the fan, leaving him visibly shaken and embarrassed.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Mr. Macaroni strongly condemned the act, calling it “dehumanising” and “highly condemnable.” He emphasised that positive change starts within ourselves, suggesting that if we truly aim for a better society, we must hold ourselves and others accountable for such actions.
This sentiment shows the broader discussion about celebrity behaviour and responsibility, along with the huge power difference that is always very obvious between every celebrity and their fans.
Mr. Macaroni also reminded fans to be respectful of their favourite celebrities’ privacy and always ask for permission before taking pictures with them, acknowledging that there needs to be a balance between admiration and respecting personal space.
