Seun Kuti, a well-known Nigerian musician, and his wife, Yeide, recently shared the story of how they met and fell in love. They were guests on the popular TV show “Your View,” where they discussed their relationship.
Yeide fondly recalled her time as Seun’s backup dancer, even though she admitted that they didn’t talk much back then. Despite not initially connecting, their relationship eventually blossomed into love and marriage.
“I’ve known Seun a long time but we never used to talk because he was older than me, obviously. I eventually met him again through his cousin and then I started working with them as a dancer because I loved to dance. His cousin was also a dancer,” she said.

Yeide playfully revealed that Seun had his eye on her back then, saying, “And he was the one scoping me.” Seun chuckled and added, “We were both scoping ourselves.” He then jokingly clarified that the age difference between them wasn’t as big as Yeide might make it sound, emphasising that it was only five years.
Yeide, continuing her story, explained that even though she started to develop feelings for Seun, she knew she couldn’t act on them. Back then, he had a girlfriend, and she didn’t want to disrespect their relationship. So she decided to step back and keep her feelings to herself.
She said,
“It was a lot for me he was too amazing. Not that he was out of my league and he had a lot going on for him. I used to see him but see never used to talk. I tried to play hard to get, at that point I was seeing someone he knew so it was a bit awkward. But he had a girlfriend, what was I going to do with someone that had a girlfriend and his girlfriend was even giving me face and I had to back off.”
The singer mentioned that he began to develop feelings for Yeide, unaware that she was also in a relationship with someone else at the time, which made her seem distant.
Eventually, the couple tied the knot in 2020 after having a child together and sharing a home.
