1. A Tribe Called Judah
Securing the top spot on the list is Funke Akindele‘s festive film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” presently leading the Nigerian box office.
The storyline revolves around five brothers, portrayed by Jide Kene Achufusi, Timini Egbuson, Uzee Usman, Tobi Makinde, and Olumide Oworu, who unite to rob a company to save their mother, played by Akindele.
Released on December 15, 2023, across cinemas nationwide, the movie achieved a remarkable opening weekend, grossing ₦113,274,357 million. Swiftly gaining popularity, “A Tribe Called Judah” became a sensation, with fans reporting sold-out tickets just hours before showtime.
As reported by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the film concluded 2023 with a total gross of ₦854,284,939 million, establishing itself as the highest-grossing Nollywood title for the year and, notably, the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever.
The movie has now surpassed the billion-naira mark in earnings.

2. Malaika
In the second spot is “Malaika,” produced by Toyin Abraham, which revolves around the challenges faced by a couple, portrayed by Toyin Abraham and Emeka Ike, in their quest to have children.
During December 22–24, 2023, the film amassed a total of ₦33,918,250, marking it as the second highest-grossing Nollywood opening weekend.
By the conclusion of 2023, “Malaika” had garnered a gross income of precisely ₦160,995,869 million.

3. Ada Omo Daddy
Claiming the third position among the highest-grossing Nollywood films in 2023 is Mercy Aigbe‘s second cinematic venture, “Ada Omo Daddy.” Notably, the film was released on the same day as “A Tribe Called Judah.”

Ada Omo Daddy commenced its cinematic journey with an opening record of ₦27,620,446 million. During its final weekend in December, the film accumulated a gross of ₦21 million, resulting in a total gross for 2023 amounting to ₦133,663,236 million.
