The Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, has acknowledged the significant contributions of Nigerian-American singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to the entertainment scene in the city.
In recognition of Davido’s headline A.W.A.Y Festival at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Mayor Dickens, along with the Atlanta City Council, declared November 18 as ‘Davido Day‘ to honour the artist.
On Davido’s birthday on November 21, 2023, the Mayor conveyed a message commending the artist for captivating global audiences and becoming a music industry icon. The Mayor expressed gratitude for Davido’s multifaceted roles as a singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate.
The Mayor recognized Davido’s numerous accolades and his ongoing efforts to give back to communities in the United States and across Africa.
“On behalf of the City of Atlanta, thank you for your tireless efforts as a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. Throughout your remarkable career, you’ve amassed an incredible number of accolades and continue to use your platform to give back to communities in the United States and throughout Africa.”
The Atlanta City Council officially proclaimed November 18, 2023, as ‘Davido Day’ in the City of Atlanta, highlighting the artist’s impact and influence.

In addition to the city-level recognition, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners also honoured Davido by proclaiming November 21 as “Davido Appreciation Day” in Fulton County, Georgia.
The Board acknowledged David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, further solidifying his appreciation and recognition in the region.
“Be it resolved, that the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, and does hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023 ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Gourgia.”
