The upcoming Next Gen Mini-Conference will feature a pitching session led by Nollywood legend Ramsey Nouah, providing aspiring film professionals with an exceptional chance to pitch their concepts to key players in the Nigerian film industry.
An essential part of this biennial conference is the pitching session, which seeks to identify promising film and content development concepts from aspiring filmmakers. Following the conference, these chosen concepts may receive support and develop into finished film projects.
The primary audience for the event is students and aspiring professionals working in fields like film production, movie criticism, directing, film financing, marketing, and content creation.
The conference is slated to take place on October 26, 2023, at The Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, with the theme “Next Gen Evolve”. Together with the Nigerian International Film and TV Summit, it is put on by Blue Pictures, a well-known West African film distributor.

Professionals from the industry will participate in panel discussions and provide insights at the event. Prominent individuals like Kayode Kasum, the founder of Filmtrybe, Chris Odeh, senior producer at Sozo Films, and Bukola Oloyede, country manager at Sony Nigeria, are on the panel.
Emerging talent can interact with seasoned industry figures who can help mould their careers in the film industry through the Next Gen Mini-Conference. The conference was motivated by Joy Efe Odiete’s own experiences when she first entered the industry, as the CEO of Blue Pictures and event organiser. She emphasised the value of mentorship for newcomers, and the conference aims to provide the assistance needed for their successful integration into the sector. In order to give those who had successful pitches enough time to prepare, it is held every two years.
Adedayo Thomas, CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Uche Nwuka, Director at Bank of Industry, Patrick Donald Lee, Executive at Viva Cinemas, Mary Ephraim, President of Homelands Films, and Tochukwu ‘Dr Foy’ MacFoy, Founder of Energise Music are just a few of the notable film industry figures who will be present at the event.
Young and up-and-coming talent has a great chance to network with established figures in the Nigerian film industry and learn from them, which will ultimately help them succeed professionally.
