Lawsuit Against Kanye West And Tidal Reportedly Dismissed

A class-action lawsuit which had been filed against Kanye West and the streaming service Tidal has reportedly been dismissed.

The suit was first filed back in April 2016 in relation to the release of West’s seventh studio album ‘The Life of Pablo’, which arrived two months previously. The legal action was launched with the argument that West and Tidal had allegedly deceived fans by announcing that ‘The Life of Pablo’ would be a Tidal exclusive upon release, only for the album to made available on other major streaming services by April of that year.

The suit, which alleged that the aforementioned announcement was a move by West and Tidal to drive up subscriptions to the Jay-Z-owned streaming service, was brought forward as a class-action lawsuit in June 2018 due to a tweet posted by West in 2016 where he wrote “[the album] will never never never be on Apple” and that “it will never be for sale”.

As The Blast reports, lead plaintiff Justin Baker-Rhett and West have now reached an agreement for the suit to be dismissed.

Tournament organizers announced on Tuesday that world number one Jannik Sinner (23) will not participate in the Paris Masters indoor event due to health issues.

The 23-year-old tennis star, who secured his position as year-end world number one in mid-October, suffers from an “intestinal virus contracted before he arrived in Paris.” French player Arthur Cazaux has moved up from qualifying to take Sinner’s place in the tournament draw.

Cazaux will compete against either fellow Frenchman Corentin Moutet or American Ben Shelton in his second-round match on Tuesday.

Sinner now focuses on the upcoming Masters in Turin, scheduled for November 10-17, which will feature the year’s top eight players. The Italian champion plans to defend his country’s title at the Davis Cup finals the following week in Malaga, Spain.
