R Kelly has recorded a new album and is looking for someone to release it imminently, it has been reported.

The singer was recently dropped by RCA Records after the broadcast of Lifetime’s Surviving R Kelly docuseries brought fresh attention on him and allegations of sexual misconduct. Kelly has always denied the claims.

Sources have reportedly told Billboard the musician has completed work on a new album, which will be his first studio release since 2016’s ’12 Nights Of Christmas’. His team are said to have been looking for a new distributor for months before the Lifetime documentary was broadcast.

It had been suggested Kelly could forgo working with a label and upload the album directly onto Spotify himself. However, the direct-upload function is still in beta mode at the moment, with only a handful of artists able to access it; with a representative for Spotify confirming Kelly is not one of those acts.
