The prestigious London International Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) has officially selected the Nollywood film “To Love and Protect” for its 2024 screening lineup. The festival will showcase the film on October 23, 2024.

Ne Kunda Nlaba, an esteemed film producer, director, screenwriter, political scientist, and film professor at Kongo Bizizi Academy, founded the London PAFF. This esteemed film event is an annual celebration of Pan-African cinema. Further, it showcases films produced in Africa and its diaspora from around the globe.

The film’s lead actors, Ibrahim Suleiman and Linda Ejiofor, took to their Instagram accounts to share the exciting news with their fans.

In a collaborative post, they announced that “To Love and Protect” had been officially selected to grace the screens at the upcoming edition of the London International Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) 2024.

“YOOOOOO!!! Our movie got selected for the London International Pan African Film Festival Excited about this, congratulations to all cast and crew members @roknigeria “TO LOVE AND PROTECT” got an official selection for London International Pan African Film Festival (London PAFF 2024) @londonpaff Screening Date: 23rd October, 2024. A pregnant woman, haunted by her past pregnancy losses, suddenly goes into labor and must rush to an unfamiliar hospital. Initially, everything seems routine until chaos erupts when doctors inform her that her baby died shortly after birth. However, she adamantly insists the deceased infant isn’t hers. Subsequently, she takes the hospital hostage, demanding the staff produce her actual baby.

Meanwhile, among the hostages is an undercover detective who happens to be diabetic. As tensions escalate, the movie reveals the detective has crucial evidence that can imprison a powerful gang boss. In response, the gang lord swiftly dispatches two hitmen to the hospital to recover this damning evidence.

Furthermore, this gripping narrative forms the plot of “To Love and Protect”. While Mary Remmy Njoku of ROK Studios spearheaded the production, Olumuyiwa Aluko skillfully directed the film. Notably, the movie is currently screening in the Fiction Feature Film Category.

Netflix has released the highly anticipated trailer for “Hijack ’93.” Charles Okpaleke directed this historical drama that is set to premiere on October 25, 2024. The film promises an exploration of a notable event in Nigerian history.

“Hijack ’93” joins a growing lineup of authentic Nigerian stories showcased by Netflix. Further, it builds upon the success of previous Play Network films like “Blood Vessel” and “Glamour Girls.” This new project reinforces the streaming giant’s dedication to telling compelling tales from Africa.

The 1993 hijacking of a Nigerian Airways flight by a group of teenagers inspired “Hijack ’93”.

The film is a fictionalized retelling of this dramatic incident. Interestingly, the film goes into the motivations of the hijackers and the challenges faced by the passengers and crew. Also, it touches on the broader societal implications of the event.

Charles Okpaleke is the producer and co-founder of Play Network Studios. He expressed the importance of preserving and sharing such historical moments.
