Nollywood star Chimezie Imo tackled two common hurdles actors face in the Nigerian film industry. One challenge Imo addressed was the tendency for actors to be typecast in similar roles. While acknowledging the frustration this can cause, Imo offered a surprising perspective.

He suggested that being stereotyped isn’t always a negative thing.

Perhaps he feels it can provide stability and recognition. Also, it allows actors to hone their skills in a particular genre. The interview piqued viewers’ interest in learning more about his unique perspective.

He said,

“I’m of the opinion that stereotyping is not really a bad thing, especially in the movie scene, because it only means that you’re really good at something, and everyone can tell, and it’s okay to be good at one thing. But there’s so much an actor has that you don’t want to be kept in a box.”

Chimezie Imo argues that actors can find ways to bring something fresh to their performances even when cast in roles that seem repetitive.

“Sometimes, even when you get those stereotyped roles, you can have conversations to tweak it a little bit. For example, there was a script that I had and it was supposed to be emotional and I said, ‘Okay, can I be emotional without crying?’ I didn’t shed a tear in that film. There are other ways you could be emotional without shedding tears.”

He also discussed the challenges actors face during auditions.

Placing the blame on the casting directors, Imo said,

“Auditions challenge you. One of the worst things is getting a ‘No’ or getting in front of some people and losing all your lines and whatever; that is also because of most of our casting directors here.”

Chimezie Imo didn’t shy away from discussing the pressure actors experience during auditions. He even pointed out that some audition environments can feel cold and unfriendly. In his own words, he said,

“I think we also need to do better. We don’t know how to make people comfortable and warm, just a bunch of straight faces looking at you like they’re about to stab you, and that line you’ve been rehearsing for 3 weeks just flies.”

Lati actually knew Davido since he was just 10 years old.

Lati’s life took a turn when his parents passed away. He found himself working for the Adeleke family, which is where he first met Davido.

“I have known you since you were 10 years old. That was when I lost both my parents. You are always there for me like a brother and you have never turned your back against me,” Lati wrote in an Instagram post.

Back in the day, Lati pierced Davido’s ears.

Talk about friendship! In a recent interview with popular American jeweler Icebox, Davido spilled the beans. He said his best man Lati is the one who gave him his ear piercings way back when they were teenagers.

According to Davido, “Lati pierced my ears when I was like 14 years old.”

Lati Biola actually made the first move for Davido when he saw Chioma.

Love at first sight? Maybe not quite! But Davido knew something special was there when he saw Chioma on campus at Babcock University. Back then, they were both students. Davido asked his trusty friend Lati to break the ice and call Chioma.

“I was in school for a year before I blew up. That was when I met my wife. I remember the day I saw her. I can never forget it. I was in a Prado, and I looked behind and I saw this girl walking. Just there with her bag, it was Chioma. I told Lati, ‘Omo, I like that girl. Go and call that girl for me.’ He called her but she did not answer me at the time,” Davido said during an interview with YouTuber, Tayo Aina.

Lati was the one who slapped a Davido fan in February 2024

There might be a video you remember from February this year. A Davido fan was trying to take a picture with him, but things got heated. One of the people with Davido, his friend Lati, ended up slapping the fan.

Thankfully, it seems things were smoothed over. Reports say Lati reached out to the fan to apologize and even offered them ₦200,000 to make things right.

Lati Biola holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

Lati isn’t just Davido’s best man, he’s also a well-educated guy. Back in 2002, he graduated from Lagos State University with a degree in Mass Communication.

Lati isn’t actually Davido’s bouncer.

Forget the rumors about Lati being Davido’s bodyguard. Lati actually works behind the scenes in the music industry. He has a role in A&R (Artists and Repertoire) for Davido’s record label, DMW. This means he helps find and develop new talent for the label.

Chioma Avril Rowland, who is soon to marry award-winning singer Davido (CHIVIDO 2024), had a surprise bridal shower on Sunday night, attended by her friends and family.

Photos and videos from the event were shared on social media, showing Chioma looking happy and excited in the lead-up to her wedding on Tuesday, June 25.

In one video, Chioma explained that her fiancé Davido had secretly arranged the party. He had told her they were going to have dinner after their pre-wedding photo shoot, but it turned out to be her bridal shower instead.

She said, “Let me tell you a story. I know this is an event centre, and David said we were going to eat. He was trying to get the exact location, and when we got outside, he asked somebody something, and I said, ‘This is not a restaurant. I’m hungry, I want to eat.’ Then I saw balloons, I just started screaming.”

As Chioma walked into the party, the excitement was electric.

It was her night to celebrate her upcoming marriage, and the atmosphere buzzed with well wishes. Her friends and family couldn’t wait to shower her with love. They presented her with a sash proudly declaring “bride to be” and a stunning bouquet of roses. Even though her pink bodysuit looked amazing, Chioma opted for a dazzling switch into a short black gown that shimmered under the lights.
