Yul Edochie Says He Has Forgiven Junior Pope For Backstabbing Him | fab.ng

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie recently went through a public experience of forgiveness related to his late colleague, Junior Pope. The situation unfolded in a way that surprised many.

Shortly after Junior Pope’s passing, Yul made a shocking revelation. He publicly claimed that Junior Pope had betrayed him, despite their seemingly close friendship. Yul elaborated that he had always supported Junior Pope and considered him a brother. This alleged betrayal, Yul said, was the reason behind his absence at Junior Pope’s funeral.

He wrote,

“Speaking about forgiveness. I forgive him completely. It hurts deeply when a friend you love, took like a brother, stood for and shown love over the years turns around to stab you in the back repeatedly without remorse. Sadly, that’s the world we live. Humans are filled with flaws. To err is human, to forgive is divine. I forgive him & wish his family the very best.”

Yul’s statement sparked a wave of criticism online. Many people felt it was inappropriate to air out such grievances when Junior Pope could no longer defend himself. They believed Yul should respect the deceased and allow him to rest in peace.

Facing this backlash, Yul attempted to clarify his stance in a new message. He emphasised that he had chosen to forgive Junior Pope. However, he acknowledged that the betrayal still caused him deep emotional pain. This clarification offered some insight into Yul’s perspective, but it likely didn’t appease everyone. The situation highlighted the complexities of navigating personal conflicts, forgiveness, and public perception, especially in the face of death.

When I Didn’t Get Roles In English I Got Frustrated – Funke Akindele

Funke Akindele on frustration for not getting English roles | Fab.ng

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, talked about how hard it was for her to get started in acting. She even learned how to make movies all by herself! In an interview, she said that things weren’t always smooth sailing. Regardless, she’s known for her roles in both English and Yoruba movies and her hit movies that make a lot of money. She also mentioned an important moment in her career that happened while she was working on a movie with another actress named Ayo Adesanya.

Akindele recounted,

“When I didn’t get roles in English I got frustrated. So I was on a project with Ayo Adesanya, and I told her that I don’t have roles and she said, ‘I’ll talk to a producer, and I will have you on board for Yoruba movies.’ And she spoke to the producer and I was invited to come and act in Oshogbo then.”

That’s when things started to change for Funke Akindele.

She met important people in the movie industry while working on this project. Some of these people were Actresses Fathia Balogun and Iyabo Ojo.

“From there, I met with Fathia Balogun. I met Iyabo Ojo and I told them I need roles and Iyabo said, ‘Okay, come come.’ She took me to the Odunfa Caucus where you have the Yinka Quadri and Taiwo Hassan. She said, ‘This is my friend. Give her a job,'” Akindele said.

Even though Funke Akindele didn’t get a big acting part at first, she said the time she spent working on Yoruba movies was very important. It taught her a lot about how movies are actually made. That is like the little details that make a big difference.

“They didn’t give me the big role. I actually launched myself with my own production. I wrote it, I produced it. But I learnt a lot from the Yoruba movie genre; how to produce. I was always focused on the cameras; how things were moving up and down, I was always checking the cameras, checking the props, checking everything, asking questions,” she said.

Biodun Stephen’s “Muri and Ko” Leads Nollywood Films At The Box Office

"Muri and Ko" Leads Nollywood Films At The Box Office | Fab.ng

The Nigerian box office witnessed a power shift this week, with Nollywood’s “Muri and Ko” making a surprising climb to the top. Let’s take a closer look at how these films are performing.

Debuting at number six, “Muri and Ko” defied expectations by surging to the coveted second-place position.

This heartwarming story follows the unexpected turn of events for a thief named Muri. After stealing a car, Muri discovers a child inside. Forced to go on the run from the police with a bounty on his head, an unlikely bond begins to form between Muri and the child.

This unique premise and strong performances seem to resonate with Nigerian audiences, propelling the film to financial success.

Hollywood’s action-comedy juggernaut, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” continues its reign at the top of the box office chart for the third week. This highly anticipated sequel to the popular “Bad Boys” franchise continues to rake in the big bucks. It grossed an impressive ₦100.8 million this week. With a total haul of ₦216.5 million so far, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

After holding the top spot for three consecutive weeks, “Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti,” a biographical drama chronicling the life of the famed Nigerian activist, has been dethroned by “Muri and Ko.”

This week, “Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti” only managed to secure ₦15 million. The movie dropped down to fourth place with a total gross of ₦156.5 million. While it seems to have lost its initial momentum, “Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti” still holds a respectable position at the box office.

The action thriller film, “Criminal,” took a hit this week. It experienced a significant drop in its position on the charts. Falling from fourth place to sixth place, “Criminal” brought in only ₦8.2 million this week. This brings its total gross to ₦45.7 million. The reason behind the film’s decline in popularity could be due to a combination of factors. These factors can be competition from new releases or negative word-of-mouth.

The Nigerian box office is a dynamic landscape, and these rankings can fluctuate from week to week. However, the success of “Muri and Ko” demonstrates the potential for Nollywood films to capture the hearts and wallets of Nigerian audiences. This can happen with captivating stories and strong performances.
