Nigerian singer Spyro, whose real name is Oludipe Oluwasanmi, recently shared a personal story on his Instagram page. He revealed a past heartbreak that led him to develop a surprising dislike for Canada.
Spyro was in a serious relationship with a woman who lived in Canada. Things were apparently going well, and he was even planning to propose. However, their love story took an unexpected turn. According to Spyro, his girlfriend saw a photo (or perhaps a video) of him being innocently greeted with a peck on the cheek by a female fan. This seemingly harmless gesture caused a major rift in their relationship, leading to a sudden and unexpected breakup.
Spyro admitted that this experience left him feeling hurt and betrayed.
In his emotional state, he began to associate his heartbreak with the place where his ex-girlfriend lived—Canada. This negative association turned into a full-blown dislike for the entire country. He even confessed to postponing a planned tour of Canada because he was still struggling to move on from the emotional pain.
He wrote:
“Canada, I want to be honest today… The reason why I have pushed this tour this far is because I was still healing from a serious heartbreak from one of your girls there. Quite painful as I saw a future with us …already bought a ring, and all of a sudden, she ended it, and for what, because a female friend pecked me after I bought her something she needed, and I wanted to be open, so I told her and that led to a series of events that ended the relationship. Since then, I resented the idea of Canada and everything that surrounds it, but now am healed thanks to a series of messages from my pastor Canada it is time.”
Spyro says he’s finally moved on from the heartbreak. He is excited to announce that he’s ready to tour Canada after all!
On a lighter note, Spyro threw in a playful message to his female fans in Canada. He jokingly urged them to dress their best for his shows.
He added:
“So you know, I am not just coming to tour o, I am coming to find beauty to my chaos, so my Jesus baddies, as you are coming out to the venues, endeavour to dress sexy but decent, I might just sight my missing rib from the crowd, and oh, I won’t be wearing shades on all performances in CANADA, so I can see well… See ya all from June 14th.”
