The debut album by Rema, titled “Rave & Roses,” continues to break records! Two years after its release in March 2022, the album has achieved diamond certification in France by SNEP, surpassing a massive 500,000 units sold.
This achievement comes on the heels of the album’s lead single, “Calm Down,” becoming a global phenomenon. The song, later featuring a remix with Selena Gomez, shattered records, becoming the first and only Afrobeats song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.
“Calm Down” also holds the record for the most-viewed Nigerian music video on YouTube (over 830 million views) and the longest-charting Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 (peaking at #3 and staying on the chart for over a year).
Unsurprisingly, “Calm Down” itself achieved diamond status in France, joining other Afrobeats hits like Burna Boy’s “On The Low” and “Last Last,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Oxlade’s “Kulosa,” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti.”
With “Rave & Roses” reaching diamond status, Rema becomes only the second Nigerian artist to achieve this feat in France, following Burna Boy’s critically acclaimed album “African Giant.”
