Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo will star in “Out of Breath.” This is his first major Igbo-speaking role in a long time! This is a big deal for Kanayo because he became famous for playing Chief Omego in an Igbo-language movie titled “Living in Bondage” way back in the day. Even though he’s starred in tonnes of movies since then, “Out of Breath” will be his first chance to get back to his roots in a big production.

He wrote in a caption for an Instagram post regarding the new film trailer,

Everyone is at home in his dialect. English language remains a borrowed tongue.”

The movie “Out of Breath” is an epic story told in the Igbo language. It’s based on real-life events and promises to be a powerful African tale about bravery and holding onto traditions. Obi Emelonye, who released the trailer on his birthday, March 24th, directed the movie.

“Out of Breath” also stars a bunch of other well-known Nollywood actors. They include Jidekene Achufusi (whom we mentioned earlier), Chidi Mokeme, Queen Nwokoye, and several others.

The movie is special because it’s an epic story told in an indigenous language, Igbo, which isn’t as common in mainstream Nollywood. In recent years, there have been a few other successful epic movies in Yoruba, another Nigerian language. Some of these movies include “Aníkúlápó” and “King of Thieves.” Another Yoruba epic called “Beast of Two Worlds” is actually coming out in theatres on March 29th.

There’s no word yet on exactly when “Out of Breath” will be released in theatres.

Lukatabu: Check Out The trailer For Yoruba Movie | Fab.ng

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Odunlade Adekola has announced his new Yoruba-language movie called “Lakatabu.” The trailer for “Lakatabu” is now out. The film features Adebayo Salami, Adedimeji Lateef, and Akin Lewis. It will be released in cinemas on June 21, 2024.

“When a man begins to use his powers for criminal activities, threatening the lives of citizens with his power and connections. He is Lakatabu the fierce one,” Adekola said on Instagram on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

The movie trailer introduces us to Lakatabu, a ruthless criminal played by Odunlade Adekola. Lakatabu isn’t your average robber – he possesses mysterious magical abilities that make him even more dangerous. The trailer portrays Lakatabu’s reign of terror as he steals, kidnaps, and even murders with impunity. However, a dark turn emerges when Lakatabu finds himself threatened by rivals, hinting at a coming confrontation.

The film delves deeper into Lakatabu’s world, exploring the challenges he faces as a powerful criminal. We’ll see how he reacts to the pressure, the fear his actions inspire in others, and the potential consequences of misusing his magic.

Adding another layer to the story, the movie is directed by none other than Odunlade Adekola himself! He’s not just a talented actor, but also a skilled filmmaker with a passion for directing. Adekola’s dedication to his craft shines through, and his ability to connect with audiences has garnered him critical acclaim.

Details about the film’s plot and exact release date are still unknown. The film is being produced by The Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), Akindele’s production company.

A few months ago, Akindele also announced another upcoming film, “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” from the “Jenifa” franchise, which will premiere in December 2024. She stated, “Been long you saw Jenifa!!!!”

Akindele is one of Nollywood’s most accomplished filmmakers. She produced the popular “Jenifa” franchise and delivered Nigeria’s highest-grossing film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” which earned over ₦1.4 billion.

She also produced “Battle on Buka Street,” the second-highest-grossing film in Nigeria, which made ₦668 million, and “Omo Ghetto: The Saga,” the third-highest-grossing film, grossing ₦636 million.

Akindele is the most-awarded actress at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) with five wins, including:

“The Return of Sheri Koko” (Best Actress in a Comedy, 2014)
