Nigerian singer Davido continues his tradition of charitable giving, announcing a ₦300 million donation to orphanages across Nigeria through his foundation. This generous act was shared on his official Instagram on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, which says,
“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million naira to orphanages around Nigeria… as my yearly contribution to the Nation ❤️..details of disbursement tomorrow 🇳🇬.”
Since launching the David Adeleke Foundation in 2022, singer Davido has consistently championed the cause of vulnerable children in Nigeria.
His dedication to this mission shone through last July when he proudly announced a ₦200 million donation to orphanages, from which 13,818 children benefited. And, true to his word, 2024 sees him doubling down on his commitment with another pledge.
In a press release posted then, he said,
“I founded the DAF in 2022 with a strong desire and passion to continually assist and create a proper framework for the ongoing charitable works to benefit the good people of Nigeria. Through this Foundation we have raised millions of Naira and dispersed much-needed funds to hundreds of orphanages significantly improving the lives of countless children.”
Davido’s generosity with orphanages started two years ago, during his birthday celebrations. He surprised everyone by sharing his bank account details on social media, leading to donations totaling over ₦200 million!
Instead of keeping the money, he announced a heartwarming decision: to donate it all to orphanages across Nigeria. This sparked a tradition of giving that continues to benefit many children in need.
“I am delighted to announce that all the funds received totalling ₦200,000,000 will be donated to orphanages across Nigeria as well as the Paroche Foundation,” he said.
He kept his promise, adding his own ₦50 million to the donations before distributing the funds to the orphanages.
