The highly anticipated Nollywood series, “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre,” a spin-off from the popular movie “Anikulapo,” celebrated its premiere in Lagos on Sunday. Held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, the event brought together the series’ main cast and a star-studded audience, all dressed in vibrant and stylish attire.
This epic series, directed and produced by Kunle Afolayan, is set to launch globally on Netflix on March 1st, reaching audiences in over 190 countries. During the premiere, Afolayan expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the series’ successful creation.
He said
“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre is something that has been in the works for eight years, and finally, it is here.
I want to especially thank “Olodumare” for the grace, for the knowledge and the wisdom. I want to thank my cast and the crew for believing in the dream, for believing in me and for always being there.
I want to thank Maami for the prayers at night and the day. May God be with you.
I want to thank all our supporters, everybody who has contributed to making today happen.”
As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre” picks up where “Anikulapo” left off, delving into the ongoing story of Saro and his wife.
The mysterious bird, Akala, who resurrected Saro (played by Kunle Remi) in the first installment, makes a return, but with a less benevolent presence. This epic series explores themes of betrayal, revenge, and the pursuit of ultimate power.
Filmed at the Kunle Afolayan Production (KAP) Film Village in Komu-Igbojaye, Oyo State, the series involved a massive cast and crew of 600 people.
The star-studded premiere event, hosted by renowned comedian Gbenga Adeyinka, welcomed actors including Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Femi Adebayo, Monalisa Chinda, Jaiye Kuti, Sola Sobowale, Taiwo Hassan, Gabriel Afolayan, and many more.
