While “A Tribe Called Judah” still holds the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood film, it recently relinquished the top spot for the most-watched Nigerian movie in cinemas. The suspenseful newcomer “The Silent Intruder,” featuring Big Brother Naija star Pere Egbi, made a powerful debut, raking in an impressive ₦16.5 million in its first week.
Beyond the top contenders, the Nigerian box office saw other noteworthy performances. Deyemi Okanlawon‘s romantic comedy “All’s Fair In Love” captured the hearts of audiences, securing the fourth spot with ₦10.4 million, while “Meeting Funmi’s Parents,” starring Omowunmi Dada and Timini Egbuson, held firmly in seventh place with a cumulative gross of ₦29.5 million.
The Nigerian film industry continues to thrive, showcasing diverse stories and talented filmmakers. While “A Tribe Called Judah” reigns supreme in overall earnings, newcomer “The Silent Intruder” demonstrates the ever-evolving landscape of audience preferences.
Together, these films and many more are painting a glaring picture of Nollywood’s success on both domestic and international stages.
