The Yoruba epic film “Kesari,” produced by Ibrahim “Itele” Yekini, will not be available for streaming on Netflix in January, as initially announced. Despite earlier reports setting January 28, 2024, as the release date, it was revealed on Monday, January 22, 2024, by “What Kept Me Up” that the release has been postponed and a new date will be communicated.
The absence of the Kesari poster in the Netflix newsroom, where movie dates are typically outlined, serves as additional confirmation of this delay.

Originating as a three-part YouTube series, Kesari transitioned to Nigerian cinemas on August 25, 2023. It was recognised for being one of the first Yoruba noirs to successfully make the transition to the big screen, joining the ranks of Agesinkole and Orisa, and contributing to the establishment of indigenous titles as workable cinema content.
The action thriller narrates the tale of a formidable robber armed with charms who encounters a formidable opponent when pursued by an efficient policeman. Concluding its 11-week cinematic run, Kesari gained a cumulative gross of ₦78,106,925, making it the second highest-grossing Nigerian epic title for 2023.
Produced and directed by Yekini, the film features Mr. Macaroni, Deyemi Okolanwon, Femi Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Lateef, Odunlade Adekola, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Yvonne Jegede.
In contrast, a feature film titled “Dinner,” directed by Jay Franklyn Jituboh, is set to begin streaming on Netflix today, January 24, 2024.
The narrative revolves around Mike Okafor, who receives an invitation from his childhood friend, Adetunde George Jr., and his fiancée, Lola Coker, for dinner and a weekend together in preparation for their upcoming wedding.
Mike, accompanied by his girlfriend, Diane Bassey, intends to propose during the visit. However, upon reaching Adetunde’s house, the situation takes an unexpected turn as hidden truths about each other’s relationships come to light, with one individual at the centre of it all.
