"A Ghetto Love Story" is set to release in 2024 | Fab.ng

Renowned Nigerian comedian and actor Bright Okpocha, better known as Basket Mouth, is set to direct his first feature-length movie titled “A Ghetto Love Story,” and it’s coming to us live in 2024.

Basket Mouth’s “A Ghetto Love Story” promises intense affection blooming in the most unexpected of places.

Written by television personality Victoria Eze (Mz Vick), the film shuns stereotypical conceptions about poverty and struggle. It lauds the resilience and resourcefulness of a community often relegated to the margins. Through the lens of a swelling romance, “A Ghetto Love Story” promises to portray the complexities of human connection, navigating societal biases and socioeconomic divides. It aims to transcend mere entertainment and reflect on and subtly challenge social prejudices. It’s a love story with an edge, a celebration of tenacity, and the power of art in illuminating the beauty that lies beneath every surface.

Of course, there’s a backdrop of pulsating Afrobeat rhythms and trench alleys to feel the ghetto energy. The cast boasts Nollywood A-listers like Patience Ozokwo, Nkem Owoh, Genoveva Umeh, Akah Nnani, Beverly Naya, and Wale Ojo, and that’s all the sign we need to know that it’s going to be a bomb.

Basket Mouth is a seasoned performer with a comedic genius that goes way back. He’s bringing a fresh perspective to this “director” role. His ability to utilise the power of storytelling’s power to both entertain and provoke necessary thoughts and conversations will hopefully add to the authenticity and humour we’re expecting from him in this project.

With its anticipated release in 2024, “A Ghetto Love Story” might just be a watershed moment in Nigerian cinema. Basketmouth’s directorial debut may be a redefining moment, a global sensation, or even a top performer in the Nigerian box office. While fingers are crossed, prepare to be stunned, hopefully.

"Dilli Dark": See Trailer For An Indian-Nigerian Comedy | Fab.ng

There’s a new comedy movie coming out called “Dilli Dark.” Dibakar Das Roy directed this funny movie. It’s an Indian-Nigerian comedy that tells the story of Michael Okeke, a Nigerian student living in Delhi.

Michael wants to get his MBA and stay in India, but life there isn’t easy for outsiders, especially since he’s black. The trailer shows that Michael has a strange side job too. The movie seems to make fun of the racism that Michael faces in India.

The actor playing Michael, Samuel Abiola Robinson, was really happy about the movie being announced last year in October.

I am back!!! And happy to be Announcing my Next film DILLI DARK; A film about racial discrimination and what life is like for people with darker skin in Delhi and India as a whole,” he said.

Abiola mentioned in a post that this is the first time he’s had such a big role in a movie.

The movie also stars Shantanu Anam as Debu and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan as Maa.

At the 2023 Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) Festival, Filmy interviewed director Dibakar Das Roy about how he cast Samuel Abiola Robinson in the lead role.

He replied, saying,

“We wanted someone who could look like a very regular chap. Rather than a hero. So at the same time, I saw an article that Samuel had moved to Delhi, and I reached out to him, and we connected.”

The “Dilli Dark” trailer looks like a funny movie that will also make you think. It deals with racism and what it’s like to move to a new country. If you like comedies that make you ponder as well as laugh, then keep an eye out for “Dilli Dark.” But remember, this is just a trailer, so the movie itself might be different.
