The year 2023 stood out as a remarkable period for Nigerian music, witnessing the continuous global recognition of Afrobeats propelled by the international success of Nigerian music icons. As the year comes to an end, the 2024 MOBO Awards has set out in honour of some of these music icons.
In the nominations for the 2024 MOBO Awards, the Best African category prominently featured Nigerian talent, with acclaimed artists such as Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Adekunle Gold, and Ayra Starr earning well-deserved nods.
This impressive lineup demonstrated the rich and diverse musical expertise that Nigeria contributes to the global stage.
Joining the Nigerian contingent in the nominations are other African talents, including South African sensation Tyla, Swaziland hitmaker Uncle Waffles, and Cameroonian-American artist Libianca.
Furthermore, the representation of Nigerian excellence extends to gospel star Limoblaze and prolific producer P2J, both acknowledged for their significant contributions to the vibrant landscape of the music industry.
