Jennifer Lopez’s Comeback Album Crashes In Chart Debut

Jennifer Lopez’s Album Crashes In Chart Debut | Fab.ng

In her new documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” Jennifer Lopez, the iconic singer and actress from the Bronx, ponders whether the public still holds a strong interest in her and her highly anticipated comeback album, “This Is Me … Now,” considering the ever-evolving world of pop music.

It’s worth noting that a decade has passed since her last studio album, “A.K.A.,” in 2014. Even more significantly, 22 years have elapsed since “This Is Me … Then” (2002) cemented her status as a musical powerhouse, gifting the world iconic hits like “Jenny From the Block” and “All I Have.” This significant gap adds depth to her contemplation as she navigates a potentially changed music scene.

In the documentary, which debuted Monday night on Prime Video, Jennifer Lopez, 54, candidly admits, “I didn’t even feel the necessity to create the album.”

“It seemed like there wasn’t a strong public demand for another J.Lo record if you know what I’m saying,” she further clarified.

Just maybe, she was right.

Even though Jennifer Lopez launched a major marketing campaign, which included a celebrity-filled short film called “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” to promote the release of her new album, it unfortunately did not perform well. Her ninth studio album only reached number 38 on the Billboard 200 chart, which is a significant drop in popularity compared to her previous releases.

The singer boasts seven previous Top 10 albums, with “J.Lo” in 2001 hitting #1. “Brave” in 2007 just missed the Top 10 at #12.

Jennifer Lopez in "The Greatest Love Story Never Told."

This #38 debut marks a significant drop for the once-dominant artist who ruled the pop scene with “On the 6” in 1999.

Despite two decades in the music industry, the former “In Living Color” Fly Girl remains vibrant. She co-headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2020, sang at the presidential inauguration in 2021, and recently secured the coveted “Saturday Night Live” musical guest spot in her mid-50s.

Jennifer Lopez’s “This Is Me… Now” trails Usher’s “Confessions” by just two spots. “Confessions” is a 20-year-old album that saw renewed interest after Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Strangely, “This Is Me… Now” debuted at #1 on the Top Album Sales chart. This chart ignores streaming, which is crucial in today’s market. Physical albums are rare these days, and Lopez’s sales mainly consist of CDs, vinyl, and digital downloads. But even these sales are low. “J.Lo” sold 272,300 copies in its first week, while “This Is Me… Now” sold significantly less. To boost sales, Lopez offered multiple versions of the album, tempting dedicated fans to buy more than one copy.

She invested $20 million of her own money in the album and short film, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”

The documentary reveals that the album’s title track shares its name with a book given to Lopez by her husband, Ben Affleck. Affleck gave her the book “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” for their first Christmas together after reuniting in 2021, following their well-known 2003 breakup.

Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ Tops Billboard Hot 100 Chart | Fab.ng

Beyoncé has established herself as one of the most successful superstars of all time and is no stranger to topping the Billboard charts. However, this week, she has achieved a new milestone by reaching the highest position on a particular ranking that she has never been able to attain before. Beyoncé’s latest single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” has climbed to the top spot on the Country Streaming Songs chart, marking her first No. 1 on this particular ranking.

The upbeat track features twangy guitar riffs and a catchy chorus that showcases Beyoncé’s ability to seamlessly blend country and pop influences.

While Beyoncé’s song “Texas Hold ‘Em” has been climbing the Country Streaming Songs chart for a while, it has just reached the coveted top spot for the very first time. Last week, the track made its debut in second place, just behind the collaboration between Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves, “I Remember Everything.” However, this week, “Texas Hold ‘Em” has surged ahead, claiming the number one position, while “I Remember Everything” takes a respectable second place.

Even though Beyoncé is incredibly popular and has tried out many different music styles, it is not altogether unexpected that she had not reached the top spot on the Country Streaming Songs chart before now. While she has experimented with country music on a few occasions in the past, these instances were rare, and her music is not generally recognized for its country influences.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” has been well-received by fans and critics alike.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” has become a major hit on the country music charts, reaching the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Country Digital Song Sales lists. This marks the first time Beyoncé has ever topped these charts. Her success extends even further, as “Texas Hold ‘Em” now also reigns supreme on the Country Streaming Songs chart.

Throughout her long career, Beyoncé has only had two songs appear on the Country Streaming Songs chart. “16 Carriages,” released alongside “Texas Hold ‘Em,” debuted at number eight on the chart but has since slipped to number ten. However, “Texas Hold ‘Em” has proven to be a true chart-topper across the board in the country music genre. Its success on the Country Streaming Songs chart is a testament to the song’s widespread appeal.
