Many people have different ideas about how they want their wedding reception to go, but more and more people are leaning towards the turnt up/owambe wedding reception concept.
We love the idea of turning your reception to a wedding after party. The ceremony is the most important part of the day for you and your partner, but the reception is what most of your guests are looking forward to.
Make the reception celebration memorable and personal, and plan a night your guests won’t forget.
- Photo Booth Station
Everybody loves taking photo booth pictures. They make the best memories and there is no pressure of looking like a model in the pictures. You could give out party favors to liven the photo booth station. Funky masks, hats, moustaches and exaggerated accessories will top off the look.
- Have a perfect seating plan
Seating arrangements are important for people to mingle and have fun at the reception. Seat guests with people they know or have something in common with.
- Change into something more comfortable
A lot of people have plans to wear 2, 3 or even 4 outfits on their wedding day. Truth is, you won’t have much of a good time if you can barely breathe in your outfit. It is easier to slip into a little dress or something you are more comfortable. As a groom, you can switch your more restricting tux for a blazer or a more relaxed suit so that you can dance more, laugh harder and mingle with more guests.
- Surprise your guest
Spring a wonderful surprise on your guests. You could decide to bring up a special guest artiste that is bound to make the crowd go wild, or dancers out of nowhere. Sometimes, the best part of the wedding happens during those moments. A dance battle with the bridal train and grooms men is also a good way to keep your guests at the edge of their seats.
- Get Ice Breakers
Ice breakers will help guests who’ve never met get to know each other. It also encourages small talk and brings about a feeling of togetherness. The cards could have statements such as, “If you’re an Aquarius, stand up.” Guests will find out they have more in common than they thought!
- Have a Game Plan for Kids and the Elderly ones
If there are kids at the reception, you may need to hire a baby sitter or nannies to look after the children while their parents have fun. There should also be an area specifically for the kids. This helps to keep the kids entertained while their parents can also keep an eye out for them. The elderly ones may be bored at our youthful exuberance, so you could hire a band that will churn traditional music in another section for them to have fun and mingle with their counterparts.
- Never run out of food or small chops
You can divide the food into 3 or 4 courses. That way, the food keeps coming in at no extra course to you. There could be small chops, the main dish, fries, cakes and pastries. There could also be dessert with coffee toppings to keep the crowd hyped throughout the reception.
