Meghan Markle Has Been Named Vice President Of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust

On International Women’s Day, Kensington Palace has appointed the Duchess of Sussex the vice president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. The trust, of which Her Majesty is patron and the Duke of Sussex is president, connects young leaders around the world who are driving positive social change and providing hope, work and self-employment opportunities for others.

“We are particularly delighted that the first opportunity of formally working together with Her Royal Highness comes on International Women’s Day,” Nicola Brentnall, chief executive of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, said. “This squares perfectly with our focus on amplifying the work and contribution of those furthest away from power. Women across the Commonwealth and the globe often face the biggest impediments to success. So we are delighted to have our vice president’s support in helping others to overcome those obstacles.”

Meghan’s first appointment as vice president sees her join an International Women’s Day panel organised by the trust. Alongside Annie Lennox and Adwoa Aboah, she discussed the significance of International Women’s Day and “the spotlight it can bring to obstacles which still affect female empowerment across the world, including access to education and limitations within employment”, as well as “the positive opportunities that come when women are given wider access and equal opportunity, whether that be in the UK or elsewhere in the world”.

During the debate, Meghan agreed with Lennox “we must be global feminists and include men and boys”, and said to the audience, “If there’s a justice and a lack of inequality someone needs to say something – and why not you?”

Her recent surge in song certifications has propelled her to an impressive total of 103 RIAA-certified titles, surpassing all other female artists in this category.

The RIAA celebrated this monumental achievement in a post on X on Tuesday.

“Crowning achievement! Congratulations to @Beyonce, who now holds the record for the most certified titles for a female artist in RIAA history, including her first two Diamond singles! @parkwood @columbiarecords,” RIAA announced in a post on X on Tuesday.
