50 Cent has paid tribute to a member of the Power production team, who died while working on the show’s set in New York.
63-year-old Pedro Jimenez was hit by a car that was being driven by a colleague in Brooklyn, it has been reported. The crew member, who is said to have worked on Power since 2014, was pronounced dead in hospital.
50 Cent, who stars as Kanan Stark and is an executive producer of the crime drama, later took to social media to pay his respects.
“I just learned we lost Pedro Jimenez, a member of the Power production team” the rapper and actor posted as the caption to a black screen. “My prayers and condolences are with the entire Jimenez family.”
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our Power family,” said the show’s network Starz TV in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with Mr Jimenez’ family as we work to fully understand what has happened.”
Omari Hardwick, who portrays the show’s main character James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick has also posted a message about Jimenez – calling him “beautiful, hardworking, and gracious”. “Please send up prayers for the Jimenez family while loving on your own,” he concluded his Instagram message.
Meanwhile, the filming of Power has been temporarily suspended out of respect. The show’s fifth season aired earlier this year.
