First dates can be filled with a lot of feelings. I mean first impressions last longer and knowing that you can meet the person who can become a vital part of your life is very nerve-wracking, isn’t it?
This article highlight 7 things you should not do on the first date!
We become much more nervous when we don’t know what to do. Sometimes, it feels like it would have been much easier if there was someone hiding somewhere and giving us tips on what to do.
If you know the things you shouldn’t do, you will not embarrass yourself in front of the person that could become the love of your life.
So if you want to start nailing it from the first date, here are the things you should not do on the first date
Don’t get drunk
You might have alcohol during your date but you should not get drunk. When you get drunk, you ramble a lot. You don’t want your date to have the wrong impression. I personally believe that you should drink very light so you can reflect on the date.
Never talk about your “ex”
It’s so easy to start talking about your ‘ex’ but no matter how things ended in your last relationship, try not to talk about your ‘ex’. This could make your date feel you’re making comparisons between him and your ex and that you’re not really ready to start dating.
Don’t talk about marriage or children
Marriage and children are a no-no on the first date! It could make your date feel awkward even though he has the same aims as you do. Be patient and wait till you have more dates (if you do) before talking about marriage.
Never Forget Your Manners
Remember to always say please and thank you, and close your mouth while eating. Also ladies always apply your lipstick in the restroom and not at the table after eating. Your date will often judge you on the ways you relate with others and how much you value etiquette.
Don’t forget Your Hygiene
when people are anxious about something such as first date, they tend to forget to do some things like brushing your teeth and combing your hair. Make sure your hair is well-kept and you showered your best. Your clothes must be clean and ironed. Wear deodorant and try a perfume or aftershave. Make sure your physical appearance is stunning.
Ask questions
Never constantly talk about yourself to the extent that you forget to ask your date anything. They obviously would have things to say so you can know them better. Make sure you both have equal opportunity to talk and always pay attention to what your date is saying.
Don’t talk over your date
Don’t let your date feel like he is struggling to be heard. It is very respectful to keep quiet and pay attention when your date is speaking.
