Everyone loves to look good especially at social functions like weddings.
However, it is important to note that moderation is necessary especially when it not your event or wedding.
Try not to be to extra especially with your wedding guest outfit.
There are however a set of fashion rules to which one must adhere to when you are a wedding guest.
Here are 6 outfits you should never wear to a wedding.
White Dress
Despite it being a common tradition for the bride to wear white on the wedding day, some guests do show up to weddings in white dresses. White is a big no-no if you are a wedding guest and anything else that remotely falls under this category is a BIG no-no. As much as possible, avoid anything white.
It might sound funny but some brides and families are quite sensitive about these things. You should always follow the dress code and if you’re not sure, check with someone who is attending the same wedding.
There’s only one exception, you can wear it only if the bride has explicitly said guests can wear white. So ladies save the white dress for another occasion.
Short & Revealing Outfits
Short and skin revealing dresses can be sexy and sensuous, but they have to wait for a night at the club. Wearing clothes that are extremely short or showing too much skin are considered inappropriate and should be avoided at weddings at all cost.
If you’re not into full-length dresses or have a shorter dress in mind, knee length or something that falls till the knees will be an ideal choice for you. A deep plunging back looks gorgeous but not when we can see your [bra] straps.
That doesn’t mean you should feel like you have to cover up completely, though. “It’s ok to show ‘some’ skin, but do so with caution and class, and always plan to cover up during a ceremony with a shawl or cape.
Black
This is a wedding, not a funeral! This is not to say you can’t wear black, but hey there are so many other options to choose from. If you insist on wearing black, at least make an effort to liven it up with a print or some bright color accessories, ensure that it has ruffles, it’s flouncy etc.
Ripped Jeans
Some weddings have specific themes, and a few couples break the monotony with interesting dress codes, destination weddings, venues, etc. Unless you got one of them and it’s categorically mentioned as denim, you cannot wear them to a wedding. Jeans (ripped or not), dungarees, shorts, leggings or anything in this fabric is not acceptable.
This doesn’t mean that pants or a jumpsuit are off the table, but it’s best to leave your jeans at home.
Playsuit
You should never wear playsuit to a wedding no matter how casual the dress code is. A playsuit is basically a pair of shorts with a top that is connected at the waist. It’s mostly appropriate to wear at a beach,BBQ event or to the movies, not a wedding. You can go for a well tailored jumpsuit instead.
Shorts
Yes! Some guys show up wedding wearing shorts/Beach shirts etc. This is a fashion No No. If at all you don’t have any wedding worthy outfit, i am sure you have a good shirt and black trousers. This 100% better than showing up in shorts.
